Can this be used outside to wrap the poles on my porch?

Can this be used outside to wrap the poles on my porch?
Asked by: BARBARA
Pole-Wrap can be used for outdoor applications too. We recommend that you prime and paint, or if preferred, simply apply clear coats. Use an oil based (not latex) exterior product. Thank you, Pole-Wrap, Inc.

Is there any stretch to the wrap?

Looking to see if there is any stretch to this wrap. My pole is 13 inches round (I need to double check diameter) so want to ensure I'll get a good fit and the right look.
Asked by: Sandy
Our column covers are made of premium hardwoods for the veneer on our flexible panel products that take stain beautifully. There is not any "stretch to the wrap". A circumference measurement around the column is important for determining column diameter and selection of the correct model size. If you have a 12.5"-13" circumference pole then the correct size wrap you should order is our 16" wrap (for MDF the item # is: 87168). See Pole-Wrap Sizing Chart for diameter conversion and other helpful reference charts at: http://polewrap.com/page/3/installation. A similar chart is found on product packaging. To install, simply cut the Wrap length and width to fit your specific application and glue directly to your support column using any name brand construction adhesive (i.e., Liquid Nails Paneling Formula). A cap and base molding can then be easily added to complete the look of a classic fluted column. Thank you, Pole-Wrap team

Can this be used for a square 4x4 lally post?

Asked by: Rivera26
Yes, this product will fit square posts too. Pole-Wrap is flexible paneling consisting of half inch wide slats on a pliable backing. A standard 4 inch square post measures 3½ inches on each side. Start with our 16 inch, (NOT 12 inch!) wide Pole-Wrap size (16 inch MDF wrap model #: 87168) and cut it down to 14 inches (3½ x 4). This is done by running a sharp utility knife along the v-groove between the panels. Next, cut the standard 8 foot Pole-Wrap length with a fine tooth saw so it fits between your ceiling and floor. Pole-Wrap only offers round cap and base column molding, but if desired you can easily and inexpensively finish the top and bottom of your finished square post with regular straight crown and base molding. This is available at any general home improvement, millwork or lumber store. Use a miter saw to make 45º molding cuts for each corner and frame your finished post where it meets the floor and ceiling. Finally, finish to match your decor with paint, stain or just two coats of polyurethane.

what kind of insulating pipe cover can I get to put around my existing pipes?

Looks like I need to put some kind of pole around my copper pipes first. Similar to the pole cover, I need a sleeve as the pipes are already installed floor to ceiling. I assume PVC can't be installed around an existing pipe... is my only option to put foam around the pipes? Will the pole cover stick to foam?
Asked by: MT
Start by building a simple PVC housing structure around your pipe. The Home Depot and Lowe’s sell white, 4 inch diameter PVC pipe to quickly make this housing structure. The housing serves three purposes. First, it provides an air space around the pipe and an opening to allow heat to escape and heat the room as designed. Secondly, air space prevents damaging heat from being transferred directly to the PVC and Pole-Wrap wood product. Lastly, the housing will produce a 4 inch diameter finished column that is more aesthetically pleasing than your existing narrow 2 inch diameter steam pipe. After cutting the overall length of the PVC to fit between your ceiling and floor, make two full length cuts spaced as wide as your steam pipe (about 2 inches apart). A regular table saw with a rip fence will allow you to make these cuts quickly and exactly. Next, position the housing so the opening faces the adjacent wall, and secure the top and bottom with a bead of construction adhesive where the PVC meets the ceiling and floor. You are now ready to install Pole-Wrap around your PVC housing leaving your 2 inch wide cut in back uncovered. This opening will not be noticeable since the steam pipe is likely very close to the adjacent wall. Use construction adhesive to glue the Wrap to the PVC, and also to fasten Pole-Wrap Cap & Base trim molding to ceiling and floor around housing for added anchoring. Apply two coats of clear polyurethane or paint to match your decor.

96 in. x 12 in. MDF Basement Column Cover is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was exactly what I needed to cover a pole in my basement - so easy to install and paint - no help needed from a man.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks better than the metal post This was easy enough to install, and having a second set of hands makes it easier. It was a bit of a pain to paint to ensure that you got paint in all of the grooves. It looks better than the plain metal post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! I needed something to hide support beams in my basement. This product was just what I needed to finish out my basement project. I wanted something to maximize my living space, but have a finished look to it. The wrap was very easy to install, had to modify the caps but that was due to raising the ceiling height to again maximize space in basement. Overall, really good, inexpensive option to "boxing" in support beams.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy and effective in covering up basement column. The wrap and accompanying base/top molding pieces were just what I needed to finish off my basement room. It goes particularly well with the beadboard in the room. Just a note of caution...make sure every joint is pre-bent enough to make a smooth transition around the column. The directions were good about making this point.
