Customer Questions & Answers

can these be cut to fit square poles?

I have a carpenter who can make the cuts but I need to know if these can only be used on round poles.
Asked by: jfr914
Can I use Pole-Wrap to cover SQUARE POSTS? Yes, this product will fit square posts too. Pole-Wrap is flexible paneling consisting of half inch wide slats on a pliable backing. A standard 4 inch square post measures 3½ inches on each side. Start with our 16 inch wide Pole-Wrap size and cut it down to 14 inches (3½ x 4). This is done by running a sharp utility knife along the v-groove between the panels. Next, cut the standard 8 foot Pole-Wrap length with a fine tooth saw so it fits between your ceiling and floor. Pole-Wrap only offers round cap and base column molding, but if desired you can easily and inexpensively finish the top and bottom of your finished square post with regular straight crown and base molding. This is available at any general home improvement, millwork or lumber store. Use a miter saw to make 45º molding cuts for each corner and frame your finished post where it meets the floor and ceiling. Finally, finish to match your decor with paint, stain or just two coats of polyurethane

Can I get this in extended lengths?

Can I get this in extended lengths?
Asked by: Birdo
Yes. The 4 ft. Pole-Wrap Extension can be used in conjunction with our standard 8 ft. length of Pole-Wrap for special column applications involving high ceiling basements of up to 12 ft. from floor to ceiling. Our Wrap Extensions are pre-sanded and ready for finishing to match your décor exactly. Paint or stain as you would any wood surface. Just two coats of polyurethane looks great! For our MDF models we recommend an oil, alcohol or lacquer based primer for best results. Latex paint can then be applied if preferred. A circumference measurement around the column is important for determining column diameter and selection of the correct model size (use a tape measure or string). See Pole-Wrap Sizing Chart for diameter conversion and other helpful reference charts below. Note: Consider purchasing our Pole-Wrap Drink Shelf to completely cover any trace of a seam. Otherwise, to hide the joining seam you will need an exact 90 degree cut and to align the panels carefully during installation. If painting, use a filler and sand before applying primer and paint. The Pole-Wrap Extension and Drink Shelf are only available in Oak or MDF for purchase online or through special order at your local retailer.

Can this be used for exterior columns used in pergulas

Asked by: dee
Pole-Wrap can be used for outdoor applications, i.e. pergolas, simply prime and paint with an oil based (not latex) exterior product. If the pergolas is supported by square posts Pole-Wrap will fit square posts too. Pole-Wrap is flexible paneling consisting of half inch wide slats on a pliable backing. A standard 4 inch square post measures 3½ inches on each side. Start with our 16 inch wide Pole-Wrap size and cut it down to 14 inches (3½ x 4). Finally, finish to match your decor with primer and paint with an oil based (not latex) exterior product. Good luck with your project! 96 in. x 16 in. MDF Basement Column Cover is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with it This is a super easy and inexpensive way to finish the look of a basement. I also Got the cap and base which is a must have. It's just a big glue project other than cutting the height and width. I used a miter saw to cut the height and a utility blade for the width. I used the scrap from the height cut to figure up the width. Just note there will be a little extra width for the glue. simple and easy. It came with directions recommending masking tape to hold it in place while the glue drys. I was thinking clamps originally but the tape worked great. I did use clamps on the base just because it's a 4 pc base and I just wanted it all glued at once. Once the glue was dry and I removed the tape and clamps and all that was left was caulk and paint. Just remember "Caulk and Paint makes a trim carpenter what he aint". Ha
