Customer Questions & Answers

pool water went clear to milky after adding pool time algcidie

Asked by: Anonymous
make sure your filter is clean and run your filter and the water will clear.

How long after applying can you enter the water?

Asked by: Richard
The package states to wait at least 15 minutes after application before entering the pool. I believe that assumes your pump is running correctly and circulation adequate to disperse it in 15 minutes. The product is blue, so if it not dispersed you will know by seeing the blue cloud still in the area it was added.

How many gallons does this treat

Asked by: Joe
This is a 32 ounce bottle. Initial treatment calls for 8 oz. per 10,000 gallons, and maintenance at 1.5 oz. per 10,000 gallons weekly there after. To calculate your gallons, width x length x average depth in feet times 7.5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is meant to do. I like that. Have used this product over the years. Very effective in killing off all the algae for a long time. If you have a lot of algae, it is imperative your pool filter can handle the extra waste caused by its demise. If the pool was green to begin with, the filter is probably not so clean to begin with either. If it does not clear in 24 hours there is either a filter malfunction, or the water is not flowing, from what I have seen. Hope this helps people with bad trouble with algae.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An overpriced Waste of $$ Our pool holds 15,000 gallons of water. Used whole bottle to treat mild - medium case of green algae. 36 hrs later we still have green algae. Ran pool pump for entire 36 hrs as well. I was skeptical when I read the active ingredients which have 3% copper Active ingredient and 97% other Inactive stuff. After researching I found that a copper based algaecide should have about 25 - 30 % copper sulphate. Big difference. This junk is made exclusively for the Home Depot. I found a real algacide online for $16.98 and free shipping. $10 less than the non-working stuff!! Don't throw your $$ away on this overpriced - non-working junk. Wish I could rate it as a minus 5 star, that' how dissapointed I am with this stuff !!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good algacide While a little expensive, if you use the correct amount for the gallons in your pool, it will last a while. While it does work on green, yellow and back algae, it requires some repeat brushing to get that stubborn black algae to let go from the pool bottom. Nice that it does not foam. Wish it had one of those clear vertical graduated windows on the side of the bottle to help measure how much you are adding. I use this primarily for routine algae control and maintenance, and if I get a serious algae problem, I turn to more powerful Algicide that The Home Depot also sells called Yellow Gone, Model 23502PTM, Internet #202676834, Store SKU #216192. Nice that The Home Depot has both of these products for pool owners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as Advertised I was a little concerned when reading reviews about leaving pools cloudy. I think if you follow the directions you should be fine. When you first poor in the liquid you will notice some clouding; however, the next morning my water was clear again (I poured it in a few hours before going to bed). I should also note the the bulk of the algae was in my spa which when scrubbed free made my pool greenish but not nearly as bad as some photos I have seen of other pools. I usually buy all of my chemicals from Leslie's Pool but this algaecide seems to work better than the Leslie's brand. I have a pebble tech pool surface and have no staining. I'll definitely will use it in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Stuff I have used I don't know why the other customer had problems with this product as my experience has been excellent. I used to have to brush my pool every week and I was using "Phosfree". I switched to this product a year ago and have not had to brush at all. My water is crystal clear. Sure there is a milky blue cloud when you first put product in but it quickly dissipates if you have your pump running. Just don't spill it on your deck as it does stain which I found out the hard way.
