Answer:
This would be an excellent choice for an above ground pool! In addition to the vacuum head itself, you will need a 1 1/4" telescopic pole, an above ground vacuum hose, and a set of hose clamps. Please note that some brands of economy above ground pools use 40mm connections, which may require an adaptor.

Depending on your pool's specific setup, you will connect the hose to either your skimmer port, or directly to the filter pump. We recommend setting your filter's multi-port valve to the "waste" setting during use. Rated 2.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor design. Useless after only a few minutes When I began using it, it was difficult to push along the pool floor, but it did a good job of picking up algae and debris. But after only 15 minutes of use, the brushes flexed enough that the head was sucked down flat onto the bottom. This meant there as no way for water to flow under the head. So the suction of the pump pulled the head down so securely that not only could it not be pushed, but I couldn't pull it up off the floor without turning off the pump to relieve the suction. I tried several times again to use it, but each time the pump immediately sucked it tight against the floor so that it was completely lodged in position. The problem is that the design relies on the stiffness of the brushes to keep the head slightly up off the bottom. But when the brushes flex, this doesn't work at all. There should be rollers on the bottom to make sure the head is always a fraction of an inch above the pool surface. Now the head is completely useless. It's going back to Home Depot. Sometimes I wonder whether the designers who create products ever bother to actually use them. May 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NEAT this vacuum works really good. I like having a clear view of what is being vacuumed from my pool! August 9, 2009
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good idea but device needs to be re-designed to function The 1st time I used this pool vacuum head the pool floor had debris on it, so the head moved along with little difficulty. However once the leaves were gone, due to the density of brush bristles the device functioned like a broom pushing precipitated particles ahead & disbursing them back into the water rather than flowing through to the vacuum. The next day when I used the pool vacuum head to remove the precipitated particles, the suction from pools pump & resultant vacuum pressure was greater then the stiffness of the brush bristles meant to hold the vacuum head off the pool floor. The only way I could use this vacuum was to lift it off the floor, move it out through the water & put it down, then pull it back. It did adhere & move well on the sides of the pool. Of course it again acted like a broom, so before the water was completely discolored again I gave up & used my old style vacuum head. Also the part that attaches the pole to the vacuum head is held in place with a metal nut & bolt which of course ended up on the bottom of pool. A with simple design modifications; retractable wheels that allow debris to flow under brushes & with slight pole pressure the wheel retracted enough for brushes to be in contact with pool floor. Reduce brush bristle density since they are no longer needed to hold the vacuum head off the pool floor. Change the nut & bolt to a flanged plastic bolt, breakage shouldn't be a problem once the vacuum issue is resolved. My pool is over 60 yrs old, and requires regular brushing & vacuuming. I was delighted when I found a product that did both saving me lots of time (~2days). I was extremely disappointed when it failed to live up to expectations I gave it 3 tries thinking it must be me or my method but all I got was a good arm work out & delayed time to aclean pool & crystal clear water. This could be a very useful product, hopefully the vendor will redesign it. May 25, 2013
