Answer:
Yes and no, it only takes a little every once in a while. Just do not overdo it or you will have a mess from the exhaust port.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Packs a punch! We were hesitant to buy this because we thought it may be under powered... It works great for teco nails in joist hangers. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Works amazing especially in small tight spots were a hammer or nail gun don't fit June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impact Palm Nailer Lived to expectations.....Very tight place to drive hanger nails.....performed flawlessly June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by worth the money Bought it to do hurricane clips. Nailed them in no problem. Definitely worth the money, your fingers with thank you. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job For the cost this is not a bad tool at all. I use it for siding to pound in the roofing nails. What I did have to do is drill out the hole a little bigger to fit the nail heads. It took a little getting use to from driving the nails all the way in but it sure makes the job a lot easier. I could see using this in a lot of other applications. If your not going to use this all the time then this is the one to go with. April 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Porter Cable Palm Nailer I purchased this product specifically to drive some long roofing nails that had to be put in behind some flashing. It says all nail types, but the large head of a roofing nail is too large to activate the hammering mechanism. I've kept it and it has come in handy several other times using normal common nails. Easy to use and control. Almost too small to comfortably control while driving larger nails. First had some issues with it hooked it up to air and only leaked air. Disconnected from air and gave it a little shake and valve seated and worked correctly ever since. I believe this tool is good for occasional use but I think would have trouble keeping up with heavy use. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Palm nailer Easy to use. Worked great in tight spaces. A real time saver. No vibration problem wearing gloves. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very handy addition to my collection of nailers Nail guns are great but when you get into a tight spot you can't beat one of these palm nailers. This porter cable palm nailer is very well made and should last for a very long time. You won't be disappointed with this product. April 9, 2014
