Good product. Easier to use than I thought it would be. Glad I got the deluxe with the extra templates. I would recommend this to any woodworker serious or hobbyist!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CharlieS Great jig but needs a little more finishing
I purchased this jig to make dovetails and box joints. Out of the box the jig was set up pretty close to being right on with the depth settings to set the router bit. I had to tweak it a bit due do the thickness of the wood. Once I read the manual and watched some YouTube videos, the unit worked as designed. The only real major drawback is the markings on the jig and each of its fixtures are very hard see and read. I would say better laser engraving and a contrasting color to highlight the markings and writing on the jig would improve it. The other minor drawback is chip / dust collection. It does make a lot of chips and there isn't a current adapter that could clamp to it for dust collection. Overall, I'm pleased with the results so far. Only made a few joints in different species of woods and they turned out well.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KatyBri Terrific Tool Terrible Instructions
The delivery of the tool was fast. It was very heavy and well made. I bought their best combo with box joint template, etc. About $180. The first thing I did was read the manual. It looked like a poor copy of the original (B&W). It looked impressive- a lot of pictures and many pages. But after wading through it, I found it impossible to understand. I then download the on line manuals, including the advanced manual. Same thing. I returned the unit (great return policy at Home Depot). I hope someone from Porter Cable sees this, because I would really like to use a jig like this, especially where you can rout both pieces at one. I suggest they look at the color manual provided with the older Leigh D4 jig and use it as an example. Hope this helps.

Bought one of these for a project I was working on. It is solidly made but the dovetails were never right. Even using the bits provided by the manufacturer could not get properly fitting dovetails. I tried it several times and always got the same result. Set up is not the easiest and the manual is very confusing. Ended up throwing this thing in the garbage, where it belongs. Very disappointing for something from Porter Cable. Sears used to have a great one but they don't make it any more.

This was my first dove tail project. I made two display cases out of walnut. The through dovetails came out perfect. The directions could be a little better for a novice, but with a little experimentation the results were remarkable. These cases will last a lifetime.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Boylug Great jog for the perfect dovetail
I didn't really know what to expect as I have only had an old plastic setup in the past. I was quite surprised at how well built this jig is. Porter Cable did it right with this dovetail jig. Easy to use (once you figure out the layout and setup of your pieces). This jig is built to last and for the hobbyist, you can't go wrong.

It took me bout 15 mins to get set up. After about 30 mins of messing around with it I got it dialed in. I made templates to help with setup for next time, something I would recommend. I plan on using all the jigs it came with in the next month.
The directions aren't the best, but there are plenty of videos all over the internet on setup tips and tricks. You cant beat the quality for the price. I even know a handful of cabinet makers that rely heavily on this setup.
Doesn't come with the bits needed to do the box joint, but I had one and that was the first one I used
