Can I use any brand Brad nails in this

Asked by: Skully
THIS NAILER IS MADE TO USE BRAD NAILS FROM 5/8" UP TO AND INCLUDING 2" BRAD NAILS. YOU CAN USE ANY TYPE OF BRAD NAILS AS LONG AS THEY ARE 18 GAUGE. BUT I WOULD CHECK THE WARRANTY TO MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU USE SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES THE PORTER-CABLE BRAD NAILS IT DOESN'T VOID THE WARRANTY. CHECK FIRST, MAY SAVE YOU SOME FRUSTRATION IN THE FUTURE.

There is a depth adjustment wheel for setting the brads flush to counter sink. The safety easily operates for flush or toenailing brads into your project. Kit comes with case, a box of 1 1/4" brads, handy belt hanger and air fitting......it's ready to go right out of the box.

I have never used a nail gun before and was considering buying the $200 ryobi battery powered one. I almost bought the $30 Wen nail gun before this one but it required oil. I opted to buy this one instead as I already had an air compressor and it was in stock in the store. I also bought some 1 1/4in finishing nails as that is what my project required. I got home, read the instructions, and found that the gun actually came with 100 1 1/4in nails inside the hard case. Oh well, now I have extra. I loaded the gun, built up air, and went right to work on a test piece of wood first. This gun was very easy to use, not that loud and worked great! This is an oil free model so I was glad of that. I do plan on keeping the magazine oiled slightly with WD-40 or similar just because it is metal and needs to slide smoothly. I store it in the case so this should not be much of an issue. Overall, this is a must buy and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, reliable nail gun at a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Porter cable 18 Gauge Brad nailer This was exactly what I need to get my small project done. I'm not a contractor and I don't work with wood all the time so this little nailer does the trick when I need it for small projects. It's light weight and easy to use with 1 hand while using your other hand to align things. I would definitely recommend this for the person who has small to medium projects to work on. I have only used it a few times so I can't comment on its durablity but it is priced right.

The depth control wheel by the trigger seems to be a little sloppy and may shift a little bit while in use. Not a big deal as you can just keep your eye on things as you go and make adjustments if necessary. It hooked right up and went to work. I would certainly buy again.
