Answer:
No. This unit must be oiled "daily". Heavy use such as a few hours a day would entail a daily oil. I put 2 drops in just before I use it as it sits inactive for a month or so at a time.

I have this nailer and have used all the name brand brad nails in it & haven't had a problem with any of them. Porter Cable brad nail packs can be found on a popular auction site very inexpensive frequently.

Answer:
Yes you will need an air compressor to operate this nailer. A small one will work fine. I have one with a one gallon tank with a pressure of about 120#. I use it for nailing trim, using 2" nails and it works great. Remember, the larger the tank capacity, the less the motor/compressor will operate.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 71 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great nailer for the price. Needed a brad nailer quickly after my Bostich quit on me, this one looked good and had great reviews. I am really impressed with this unit especially for the price and it is much nicer to use than the Bostich. FWIW the unit I got looks different than what's in the pic on this site.... same model number maybe just a different model year. Mine has a flip latch on the top to open it right up to clear any jams should they happen; but I haven't had any yet. This unit is better than the Bostich in every way. Very happy with it. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jams and misfired frequently Of all the options on the shelf at Home Depot, this was the most affordable. I chose it as I do light work with my woodworking tools and have found the low price point serves my needs with most tools. Was making some decorative trim to put as a border on something and this fit the need. I also purchased the Porter Cable brad nails. In using it over the course of my project, the nailer often jammed or mis-fired. I would guess it shoots correctly about 70% of the time. I have had better results with other pneumatic tools at this price point. This one will be returned in favor of a different model, perhaps I received a defective model as I see other reviews are positive. October 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by On the fence. I bought this porter cable brad nailer cause price seemd right on and it is but it jams A LOT. Not sure if that's normal for a brad nail gun or not but DANG it's aggravating as heck. Leaves dents but no nail when it jams October 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Little Nailer! Great nailer for trim and light cabinet and drawer assembly. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Good First Brad Nailer You want your first time to be memorable, and that's what you get with Porter Cable. Easy to operate, brads slide in easily and exit with that satisfying pffft that tells you you've nailed straight and true. For those without much experience, you cannot match the price and ease of use. Perfect for small jobs. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little gun Needed a 18a nail gun immediately as my other one stopped working. Did a search on the interned and Home Depot popped up with a great price on a Porter Cable, my favorite brand. Ordered it online and picked it up at the Garden City Store the next morning. Great service, quick and easy pickup along with that get price. August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jammed after an hour I was very disappointed with nailer. I have bought this make before with better results. The gun started jamming after an hour of use. August 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mine lasted less than 2 years Was a good gun when it worked. Jammed regularly. Then just stopped working. Goodbye Porter Cable. August 10, 2016
