I now have three routers. One is an old Sears router. The other two are the Porter-Cable 2.25 HP 890 series. I like the Porter-Cable very much. I use them to construct cabinets an dovetail drawers.

Soft Start and Variable speed work well. Router runs much quieter than my other non variable speed PC router. Only disappointment is the collet run out is more than I expected, .005. I use this router on my CNC machine so run out is more critical for accurate cuts/parts.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hobbiest Router for router table
Put in Woodpecker router table. Runs smoothly and does the job. My other router is a Festool, so fit and finish can't compare (so I gave 4 stars) but then Festool costs more than double. The PC for the price is a good choice for a basic router. I'd recommend getting a variable speed like this one.

I have this same router in my router table. Instead of taking it in and out of the table I decided to purchase another since I like this model. The price was one of the lowest on the internet. The power is plenty sufficient and I really like the way it ramps up to speed rather than turning on with a kick. There are always plenty of accessories to fit Porter Cable routers, so that's also a plus.

This is the second one i have owned, the first failed after about 1300 hours of heavy use in a CNC machine. The first one lasted longer than i expected and the new one is performing at the same level so far. Excellent value for the money

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by woodISgood Cheaper than router lift
Align the hole of your router plate to your router table plate, drill the hole for router lock and height adjustment, install your router to your router table plate and now you have a router table that you can adjust the height of your bit from the top just like those "expensive" router lift that cost more that $350 excluding router.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by apensa Great upscale router
Keep an eye on the screws that hold the "rack". That is the part that allows the up and down height adjustment. they vibrate loose. Porter-Cable suggested putting some Lock Nut on the screw.
