Answer:
Yes to get the air pressure up and in the tank and to keep it, once the tank is full and as it is used the motor kicks on so it really isn't on constantly. You can take it off electric once the tank is full and use it as a portable but you have to keep an eye on the pressure in the tank to then plug it in and refill it.

Yes. The air fittings are standard. Just be sure to adjust the pressures per requirements on the nailer. If they are too different, then I would not try to run a high pressure and a lower pressure nailer off the same line at risk of blowing out one of them.

I have had this set for over 4 years now. Used it in all my house projects and have lent it out to many friends and family. Compressor: The compressor has been reliable. I have had to replace the drain valve once after 4 years which was only a couple dollar fix. Be sure to drain this out frequently to keep rust and other debris from building up in the drain port and to keep it functioning properly. That being said, it still worked great without draining for over 2 years :) The hose is kind of cheap and doesn't work well in cold weather, easily replaced with your own though. Air Guns: These are great beginner or craft project guns. Mine are still in great shape, but if you are doing contracting you may want to choose some heavier duty options. Straightforward. It is nice it comes with some brads, staples and nails with the kit so you don't have to buy them immediately for small projects.

Compressor is loud while it's building up pressure, but then auto shuts off once it hits its peak (few minutes). Unit uses a 3 prong plug, so be aware of that if working in an older house having only non-grounded two prong outlets. For light jobs, you can simply unplug the fully pressurized unit and move it from room to room without having to plug it in again. Otherwise, the long hose is great for a focused job within a single room. Finish nailer worked perfectly for baseboards. Brad nailer did a great job for face nailing 1/2" hardwood floor slats. Stapler was a breeze for faced insulation rolls. Also used the stapler for hanging Christmas lights over the garage. Nailers are a bit heavy, but feel solid. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, so can't speak to durability, yet. Excellent value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy on a great set of tools! After using another brand of air compressor for several years, we (my wife uses these tools much more than I do) decided to take a leap and bought this combination of compressor with three guns. Right after we bought it, we were installing tongue and groove ceiling with one of the new guns and an older gun both hooked to the compressor-great having those two connectors on the compressor for this. The light weight of the compressor and nail guns, the quiet operating mode, and the great price make this an excellent purchase for us. We were aware of the quality of Porter-Cable air tools, but these are much more convenient to use than the older models because of the reduced weight.

I only recommend this kit if you have experience with compressors and nail guns. The instructions are garbage, clearly written by lawyers. I have all kinds of hand power tools and have never seen manuals like this. The compressor and tools are heavy and seem well made. I am going to search Youtube to see if there are some helpful videos. Friend across the street is a finish carpenter so I plan to get Joel's help. Once I get things ironed out I am sure this will be a great tool.

I attached a whip to air line supplied and has worked well it all guns and will drive my SB nail gun as well. I am 100 percent satisfied with the purchase I have ever been using it to add a den on house only thing I have used my hammer for is driving nails for my windows everything else done with this kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bang for my buck! Great compressor for small jobs around the house. I got the combo kit for $70 off during a labor day sale - can't beat that price! I primarily use this compressor for trim work and it works great. It has a hard time keeping up with a framing gun, but it can definitely handle light duty framing. This product is easy to move around and takes up very little storage space. Would recommend, especially if you can find it on sale.

The instruction manuals could be better, more clearly written, however if you google the model numbers, there is ample information and demonstrations on line. As to the operation of the equipment, I have only used the 16 gauge nail gun and air compressor, but I have found them to be extremely easy to use. The package was well worth the money.
