Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Air Compressor!!! 1000% better than older models!! this is my second porter cable compressor. the first was nice, but this one has improvements in all the areas it needed. the carrying handle is more ergonomic than previous model. easy to carry around the house. another nice feature is the cord management system on the side. no more wrapping the power cord around various parts of the compressor. it is nice to have a dedicated "bracket" to wrap the power cord. also the two different quick couplers are nice! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't waste your money I've had a porter cable pancake compressor for 7 years and it worked reliably every time I needed it. The only issue was the tank filled with rust from me not emptying the air when I was finished using it. So I decided to buy another one. I used it once, now the tank leaks air out of the plastic housing that has the handle on the top of the compressor. The tank regulator won't go above 75 psi and when you turn the compressor off, any air left inside leaks out in a matter of minutes. I expected more from porter cable. I'm not sure why they changed the design but the new one isn't worth the money November 23, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Porter Cable customer service caused this to be returned for nothing. I purchased this compressor last week. When I got it home and turned it on, I could feel lots of air coming out of the top at the right housing tab (see pic). I figured right off there was a leak. I called Porter Cable and told the rep about it and he said yes it sounds like a problem better return it. I returned it as "defective" and got another. I got the replacement home and decided to Google a search for the schematic and found out that the air I was feeling was (obviously) the pump fan (cooler). How was I to know this? Both of these units have another problem in my opinion. The vibration when running is so bad that the unit "walks" all around the floor. I think I am back to drawing board for a compressor. I did notice this unit is a new design from the other C2002 units. This cord wrap is on top with horizontal power switch as opposed to a display model the side cord wrap and vertical power switch. Maybe this was to be an "improvement"? April 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save your Money I bought one of these back in 2010 when it was offered in a package with 3 air gun nailers. A homeowner, I have not used it but probably 4 or 5 times a year since. I have had to replace the stripped out valve drain (part # A17038) almost immediately (it was out of warranty of course). The valves are sold in a pack of two. I am now having to replace that valve. The drain valve should open and close with simple hand tightening/loosening but it time it requires a pair of pliers. When this valve eventually needs replacement, I plan to purchase another air tank but only by a different manufacturer. February 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Quit Working I have the same problem as most of the reviews. The compressor seemed to work fine the first 2 times I used it. Then the compressor made an irregular popping noise and the compressor quit pressuring up. I'm taking it back to HD tomorrow. Porter Cable's quality Control department isn’t doing their job and will eventually put them out of business. HD and Lowes will eventually realize that there are too many issues with their products and discontinue carrying them. I would not recommend this product due to inconsistencies in quality... Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Performed well... for a while I purchased my very first air compressor three years ago, which was this one. Since it was my first, I didn't know it wasn't supposed to hiss when it finished building up pressure and turned off. By the time someone told me, it was too late to return it. After using it a couple years, I decided to give it to a friend and buy myself a new one. Amazingly enough, it was silent once pressure was built! Buuuut... two months later, it is also hissing. And it is hissing worse than the last one, so it runs about half the time even when I'm not using any air. Finally, after two attempts, I've decided to abandon this brand and buy another. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A good quality, very portable air compressor This is a well designed air compressor. It's compact and easy to carry. This compressor is ideal for use with nail guns. If you're looking for something to power your air tools then you're going to want to keep looking. April 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good deal after all! I bought the compressor/3 nailer combo for what I thought was a great price. When I fired up the compressor for the first time, the manifold leaked air to such an extent that it wouldn't sustain any pressure. So I returned it right away for a replacement, which worked fine for about 6 months whereupon IT'S manifold failed and wouldn't cut out at 150lbs psi. So I purchased a new, replacement manifold for around $60 or so, which...(drum roll please!)...a week ago went the way of the others...fails to automatically cut out. I emailed Porter Cable who 2 days later, advised me to a) run the compressor for 15 mins with the drain-plug open...if that doesn't fix it b) find and call the nearest service dept.! The local service department told me the cost for HIM to fix it would start at $99...so he recommends either buying ANOTHER new manifold, or a totally new unit! Well, the 3 nailers are still working...so I'll probably buy a new compressor, but it WON'T be a Porter Cable! April 8, 2015
