Customer Reviews

MailGuard Plastic Locking Mailbox in Black is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from very cheap in make I really wish this was at the store, so people would know what they are getting. The top door, fell off, and won't go into the slot to connect it. I will have to drill a hole an connect screws to make it work (I Hope). We have been moving an so I lost the number to call an tell them it was defective, so now I will try an make it work. We live in a State that is getting alot of rain,so I hope I can make the door the mail doesn't get soaked. If they could send another one, and replace this one, that would be great, but I think we are past the cut off, if not let us know

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Short lived solution We purchased this mailbox online to thwart mail theives and mailbox bashers. It has done that but the plastic material does not hold up to daily use. The upper door hinges broke off. I came up with a way to insert a replacement hinge, but the door would not then stay closed so everything gets wet when it rains. The door finally broke off completely, so now I am shopping for a replacement.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Locking Mail Box The mail box was close to what wanted. How ever it does have two design problems. The first one is the top door(mail deposit dor) want stay closed. The second and most impartant is the bottom door can be poped off with very little effort. The low door need a better design. This defeats the whole idea of a safe mail box.I,monly going to use this one untill i find a better built one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LIKE this mailbox!! After reading all the reviews, I still purchased this mailbox - it was $30 cheaper at than anywhere else. Problem - the diagram doesnot explain clearly how to assemble the lock, other than that, it was easy. Itwas the only mailbox that I could not put my hand thru the mail slot and notgetto the mail --- onething to understand is that the address numbers go on the post and not the mailbox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this box! After 6 years with no complaints, I am back for a second mailguard mailbox. My first was destroyed by a garbage truck running over it, which would kill any mailbox made. It's locking mechanism is quite secure. It allows outgoing mail to be left for pickup without being visible to neighbors. There is no way to reach inside and retrieve mail that has dropped inside. It is very durable, garbage trucks not withstanding. My only negative is that I couldn't figure out how to mount it on a post and had to hire a pro to install it for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Locking Mailbox This locking mailbox is great. It was easy to put together with only a few pieces. We used a couple of aluminum bats to mount it on and embedded the bats' handle knobs in concrete. It was very easy to transfer the locations where you need to drill the holes because you can open up the locked bottom portion to access the area where the screws go to mark those 4 spots. It is a unique mailbox. I still have not seen another for miles around. If ours disappears and another one pops up somewhere in our vicinity, we will know whose it really I engraved our name and address both inside and outside along with painting our name and address on it. It appears very durable. I am hoping that it will withstand any of the local mailbox bashers around here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Features Purchased this product in the summer of 2005. Other comments about the door hinges being defective are correct. I had to repair that with some creativity! Everything else is still fine! Even the lock system, which I thought would go first, is working fine. I am right on a main highway and it get the splash of salt spray throughout the day, and it has still held up and looks great.
