17 in. 25 cc Longer Curved Shaft Gas String Trimmer-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the Twist & Edge Concept But... I was ecstatic when I found this trimmer online because I used to have a Craftsman trimmer that was just like it. I used that trimmer for 10 years but Sears doesn't carry it anymore. This Poulan version is identical except everything on it is more plasticy and more cheaply made. I was very disappointed when I took it out the box. The handle feels like it could fall off at any time. It took me forever to get it started and then it wouldn't stay running. The next time I tried using brand new gas and oil hoping that would help but to no availa Once you do get it started, it does a nice job trimming, but that usually takes 15-20 minutes and your arm is practically pulled out of it's socket by then. Not sure how if I'll make it through the first summer with this thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could've Done Better My first curved shaft trimmer, not really fond of it so far but maybe it'll grow on me. On the plus side, it has started up first time every time so far. (4 weeks) Super easy to use, I like the auto feed line, as I'm a bumper, and typically waste a lot of string with the bump feed models, and I'm still on the line that it came pre-spun with, a month later, so that's great! Also, the twist and edge feature rocks for going around the house as well as sidewalks!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this model to replace an older version of it that I've had for about 10 years. I love the twist n edge feature and I'm an avid gardener. The biggest disappointment with this new model is the trimmer head that is supposed to automatically advance and keep the trimming line at just the right length. It doesn't do a good enough job at keeping up with me in heavier grasses. I also don't like that it is limited to just the one kind of trimmer line, as I prefer lines of other strengths and shapes. I think I will replace the trimming head with a different one if I can find one available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trimmer/edger available for residential use - Great value. If your looking for a reliable, easy starting trimmer that easily converts to an edger..... look no further. Most of the other brands are fussy about starting, run ragged and are hard to rotate the shaft to the edger position. This model (also sold as a WeedEater TE475Y) has none of those issues and will make trimming/edging a breeze. The only issue is longevity..... this is my second one. They last from 5-6 years with average use and then you can expect fuel delivery ptoblems. The fuel lines deteriorate and the carburetor will start to starve the engine for fuel... it will run on half choke but eventually will need to be replaced or repaired. A new carb costs almost half of a complete new trimmer !!! It's still the best moderately priced gas trimmer/edger out there. I'm sure the $300+ brands are better quality, but for a homeowner this is the best value overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool... but WARNING! Did not run out of the box... Called Poulan and they said, "The carburetor needs to be adjusted because it was tuned to California standards at the factory." Because I lived in Michigan, something about the altitude difference caused it not to run properly (air/fuel mixture in the carb). Also, be aware that the government EPA has enacted a new law that only authorized dealers can tune the adjustment screws on two stroke carburetors (for emissions reasons). Because of this, you need a special tool (illegal to sell to non-authorized dealers) to tune the carb. Anyways, I got the trimmer tuned for free (under warranty), and it works great now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to start. I had purchased the same trimmer 12 years ago and was a good trimmer.I was glad it was still being made, although it is now being made with cheaper componets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk -- Thankful for Home Depot Return policy I buy a very significant $ value of merchandise from Home Depot annually, and will continue to do so. This is not a beef with Home Depot but with the quality of Poulan products. I have owned a Poulan string trimmer for many years receiving excellent service. For that reason I purchased another from HD. I failed to read the product reviews indicating that the product quality was no longer what it once was. I have owned many 2 cycle products from chain saws to blowers, weedeaters, lawn boy mowers and outboard motors. This was a very disapponting product as it never ran or started properly, and I thought that the line dispensing was also very poor compared to my 7-10 year old previous Poulan product. My Poulan blower that is less than 3 years old has also been a disappointment. I do appreciate HD return policy letting me escape this poor product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent trimmer Have owned this unit for about 1 year. While it is heavier than the Weed Eater (light model), it works OK if you balance it by holding it in the middle. The auto-advance feature is a real time saver, and the trimmer does a very good job.
