When experiencing problems that it won't start(common complaint). Check to see if you are getting fuel, check for spark, and check compression (use a compression tester). Putting your finger over the spark plug hole and feeling that you have compression is not a good indicator. If you don't have over 100 PSI, you have a major problem. For the cost of the parts and the time it takes to replace them, it's better to buy a new saw

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy anything else WARNING - WARNING - This product is a good example of worthless junk. Purchased this at HD for some general clean up around the property. I thought by the info provided that this thing was actually a little more than I needed. It's hard to start with this piece of garbage. Even the case is built poorly. Getting it started is unbelievable, and you know the little plastic gas primer is going to bust and shoot gas everywhere. BUT WAIT - Try to find someone who can fix them. Good luck - no one whats to touch this thing and parts must come from a different dimension via carrier pigeon ( aren't any ) DON'T BE A FOOL LIKE ME. Buy an ax, use the side of your hand, train a beaver but don't buy this garbage!.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING – Staring Issues Too Much Trouble, used few times, really hard to start/restart even with fresh gas/oil. Spend more time getting it to work than using it. If it did start would not idle, it had to cool down to start again... Now it want even start.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY This would be a good saw if it were serviceable using available tools. The gas cap is poorly fitting and difficult to remove or screw back on. The carb needs frequent adjusting and takes a special tool to adjust that you cannot even buy from an authorized service center which means you must take it in to have a 2 minute adjustment done every 2nd use. While free to have adjusted under warranty, most folks expect a saw to run without having to constantly take it to a service center. We are lucky to have a service center 15 miles away, but after the warranty is up and we have to pay for a constant minor adjustment that could easily be done at home if we could just buy the tool, this saw will become rubbish as the cost and time involved to get a 2 minute adjustment done will not be worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great saw but I have had several poulan chain saws and they all work great in hot and cold weather. The problem is the bar securing device. This is the first saw I have had that uses a plastic wing nut to secure the bar. I spend more time adjusting the chain than cutting wood. It has 2 threaded studs for the bar but only uses one to do the job. I replaced the plastic nut with a flat washer lock washer and metal nut. It works ok but I wish I could use both studs, but the other is to deep in a guide hole to get a nut on. I wish I could get a regular bar cover. If you are only going to do some cutting and don't mind the hassle of adjusting the chain all the time it is great. If not look for a saw of equal quality that has a better bar securing set up. To repeat the saw is great except for that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Took 20 minutes following all directions to get it started. Cut a total of 5 two inch diameter limbs and the chain jumped off. Then it wouldn't start again. When it did the chain Would not turn. Checked everything to ensure it was clear. Nothing jammed. Back sprocket will turn until the chain is put on. Nothing jammed. Back sprocket will turn until the chain is put on. I wonder if this was a refurb not labeled that way. Neighbor looked at it. He is a tree guy for the last 15 years. Said to take it back. Just great....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very hard to start, quits while cutting I replaced my old Poulan with this new product but am very disappointed. It is extremely hard to get started and stay running and once running, it will quit for no apparent reason while cutting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poulan Pro 18 in chainsaw Cheap made, first one lasted 8 months--they did replace it free under their 24 mo warranty. But the replacement saw does not get the 24 mo warranty. It only gets the rest of the original saws warranty. It lasted 23 months from the time of replacement and failed. The failures are such that it is cheaper to replace the saw than fix it. I recommend getting a Stihl that is a quality saw. You will pay more, but you will be happier with the extremely low failure rate.
