Answer:
There is not enough information available to answer this question. On an average 12 volt battery rated at 100 amp hours and running a continuous 1500 watt appliance without the engine running, the battery would last approximately 30 minutes.

I was wondering what size battery in Ah would be the minimum to use with this? I plan on an external battery and will charge with a solar panel or a trickle charger.

There is not enough information to answer this question, we would need to know what you intend to power. Technically the unit can be powered by any 12V battery system. The amp hour rating of the battery or batteries would determine the run time. A battery rated at 100 amp hours, not being charged, and running the full 1500 watts would be completely depleted in 40 minutes. Because the inverter shuts down Read More

Because the inverter shuts down when the battery reaches 10.5 volts the actual run time would actually be less. Read Less

Answer:
The unit will power up to 1500 watts, your AC unit would have to be very small. An AC unit will have a high startup surge, so check the wattage or amperage of the unit, if it is over 750 watts or 6 amps you would want a larger inverter to power the AC unit.

Answer:
The PW1500-12 requires a direct to battery connection and the unit ships with 3 foot 4 gauge cables. The engine does not need to be running to power the inverter.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Perfect Wired this into my class A motor home to use for dry camping. Works like a charm. I did wire in a remote on/off switch in the couch. One very nice feature is the cooling fans shut off until it's pulling enough watts to heat up. Many of the other brands I looked at the fan ran all the time wasting valuable power. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good power it comes with 3ft of #6 wire to hoke up batterys , could be a foot or two longer, as I hade to buy longer cables, other than that ,it seams to work good May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks like a very good product We are using this inverter on a small off-the-grid project. It appears to be well made and has performed well so far. June 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy and fun to use I love the unit. I have had it only 3 months but it works fine to date. I tried to run my washing machine and it worked fine as did the fridge and other items. I really don't know how long it will last but will try a sump pump when it rains alot and what is great to know is you can get a marine deep cycle battery and run it a long time with lights and stuff and charge the battery with solar cells (100 watt ones at home depot at 12 volts for $199) as well as run from a car battery and just turn on the car once in a while to recharge the battery in the event of a storm. I will use it to supplement my generator in case that dies in a critical time like during a storm. Enjoy !!!!! July 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Burned out in 2 months I bought this unit to run a small refrigerator in my truck. Worked fine for two months and then burned out. I will try one more time.....maybe I just got a lemon.....but at this writing, I am not impressed nor happy with this product. January 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by performed as advertised & very solid build This is a very solid inverter. I've used it for emergency power to the house and to supply AC to a greenhouse off of a solar loop. Easy to use and set up. If it works for more than a year without problems it will earn the whole 5 stars. January 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid, easy to use Is used with tent trailer solar system. Over all I'm very happy with this product. My system is 45 watt solar panels with 2 deep cell batteries and the inverter. All functions worked great, from water pumps to coffee grinders to charging iPods and music systems. No complaints. As a side note , this level of solar does not have enough watts to run a coffee maker everyday. October 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great unit for the price I bought this unit to back up my sump pump in the event of an outage. It shipped for free and arrived early. It runs my sump pump fine. I also ran my TV, DVD player lights and a dehumidifier for 5 hrs October 1, 2013
