Why can't I use a battery charger on this inverter? Dewalt power tools

I want to install this is my service truck so I can run power tools and charge batteries over night. Is this possible if I hook them to a separate surge protector?
Asked by: Tim
A square wave inverter (3 step square wave or modified sine wave same thing) can cause damage to devices which use a capacitor to limit current. Many cheap battery chargers use capacitor current limiting so that's why there's usually a warning about it in inverter owner's manuals. If a battery charger has a warning about high voltage being present at the terminals then it uses a capacitor to limit current. A surge protector won't do anything to solve this problem. There are many battery chargers which don't use a capacitor and you can use those without a problem. If your battery charger uses a "wall wart" transformer then it's safe to use.

The cooling fan ...

Does the fan always run when the inverter is in use, or only when there is the need for significant power? Our current 2500W inverter runs all the time, is loud, and has my wife hates it. I know there is no way to duplicate the sound. But, does it run quiet?
Asked by: Jay
no it does not

I would like to know if this product will power my garage w/ over head doors & power tools

Asked by: Ralph
Some tools, electric motors and battery chargers will not operate on modified sine wave inverters. The inverter could cause damage. Also, bear in mind that any motor that is a capacitor start takes about 2-1/2 times the amps to start. If you wanna be sure, then I would recommend digging in deeper in your piggy bank and purchase a "Pure Sinewave" inverter! Besides, you'll wow all your friends!

IS THIS INVERTER A PURE SINEWAVE INVERTER?

IS THIS INVERTER A PURE SINEWAVE INVERTER?
Asked by: SINEMAN
No, pure sine wave inverters are always clearly advertised as such. The 3 step square wave that this inverter puts out is suitable for most applications though.

I have a similar unit that has been in the truck for over ten years and 1.5 million miles of service and still works as good as day one

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needed Power As long as you do not extend the battery cables that comes with the inverter you will get full power. Otherwise, the ability to run devices that require a lot of amps will diminish. Place jumper cable ends on the battery cable and make it portable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have Device Learned from last year 2011 snow storm in NY so bought this device just in time for Sandy's storm 2012. I setup a parallel connection from 2 deep cycle batteries and using my minivan to charge them batteries and power the whole thing during the day. Use it to power 2 frigs,1 freezer and lights around the house for 2 days, stop running the car between 10:30pm - 5:00am. Spent almost 1/2 a tank of gas, roughly 7 gals. That was a bargain. The 6000W is a little bit more expensive but this 3500W is adequate to my needs. Definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This inverter is excellent This power inverter is very good. With a proper battery supply and solar and wind to charge the batteries, I went all summer long off the grid. Saved several hundred dollars in electrical costs which in turn payed for this inverter and the batteries to run it. Excellent alternative power source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is very good and cost effective My mechanics run a fleet of trucks and I needed an inverter to handle a compressor and electric impacts. This has out performed my expectations. I did find the need to use the proper guage wire from the battery - you can only get out what you put in!
