Customer Questions & Answers

Is this a pure sine wave inverter or modified?

Asked by: aacs
Modified. The output is a 3 step square wave, or modified square wave as most "modified sine wave" inverters sold today are. There is a middle step where the output is shorted to 0 Volts which makes it different than a square wave inverter. This inverter appears to have a fixed duty cycle of about .75 and internal voltage regulation. Many other inverters or at least nearly all of the smaller ones don't have any voltage regulation and vary the duty cycle of the 3 step square wave to regulate the voltage. When the input voltage goes low the inverter reduces the middle 0 Volt step to increase the apparent AC output voltage. This inverter doesn't do that so it's one of the best you can buy without going to pure sine. Most AC motors should not be run on a square wave but a 3 step square wave is usually acceptable.

Can the output be converted into 220 volts. instead of 110.

Asked by: Bud
If you need 240 Volts, chances are you're looking for a split phase inverter than can power both phases of a North American building so that your 120V and 240V devices can all operate on one inverter. This inverter doesn't do that, so be sure to search for split phase if that's what you need. A pure 240V inverter can't produce 120V. The only option to buy a transformer to convert the voltages.

will this inverter Power a 15,000 BTU R/V AC Unit

Asked by: KURT
Yes it should. A modern energy efficient 15,000 BTU air conditioner would typically work on a 4,500W inverter with 9,000W surge for 1 second. 6,000W gives you enough head room. If that air conditioner is meant to work on a standard 15A 120V outlet then the surge time can't be for too long or it would trip circuit breakers. 15,000 BTU is about the limit for a 15A 120V circuit. The number of batteries you'll need to run this air conditioner continuously will be quite substantial. If you had 20 car battery sized deep cycle batteries you could run it continuously for about 10 hours. That's over 1000 pounds of batteries!

Can it's run ac unit 5000-6000

Asked by: David
A 2000W inverter with 4000W surge for 1 second will typically start a modern energy efficient 5000 BTU air conditioner without a problem. A 2500W inverter would be a good size to be safe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total Waste of Money This inverter worked great, for the first year, although it came with only one set of cables and it requires two sets. After the first year, the display light started dimming until it was completely gone. Not a big deal, I could see how charged the batteries were from the CC. Then one of the outlets stopped working. Not a big deal, I could work with only three of them. Then, after only 1 1/2 years, it stopped working altogether, BIG DEAL!!!!!. I have shopped at HD in store and on line many years and have always received quality products, but this was a BIG,BIG disappointment!!!!!
