Answer:
To be on the safe side, I'd get the PowerShot 5/16 in. Leg x 5/16 inch Crown Staples that are made exclusively for this stapler. The stapler comes with 50 in the package and these staples can be used with rounded cable up to 1/4 inch (0.25 or 6.35 millimeters) in diameter so you'll know what you'd be purchasing should you decide to buy more. You can order these staples at Home Depot online.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good For Larger Cables This product, and its accompanying staple, works great for Monster and coax cable. And while it works for smaller low voltage wire, it results in "overkill" and doesn't secure the wire as well. Presently, I've no knowledge of whether a smaller staple is available. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's built to do purchased the stapler to hang party lights in my screened porch. It is so easy to load and use. It made a very neat appearance of the light cord. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, Inexpensive Cable Stapler Bought this to secure staples because today's cable installers don't seem to know how to secure cables properly or even what to use when they make an attempt. It works pretty well. Just make sure the stapler is placed evenly and firmly against the surface your about to staple and squeeze the trigger. I found myself having to tap in a few of the staples with a small hammer but overall, this item worked better than a 9 dollar stapler should. February 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price Struggles to put staple into facia boards. Does well with softer woods. Good enough for periodic use by a homeowner. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal at the cost. Works good. Saw that a lot of these wire tackers were around 50.00 and I didn't need that heavy of use so this worked out good for me. February 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Got it on clearance. But after using it, I would pay MORE than retail to replace it! Didn't know I needed this, now I wish I had one years ago. I bought this while I was in Home Depot buying lumber to make my nephew a bed. When the bed was done, his little room looked great! Well, except for the hundreds of feet of Video Game system, TV, Media Box, i-this & i-that, cables & wires running everywhere. I'd even teched up his headboard by building in a digital picture frame. I was duct taping cords behind the bed when I remembered that I had grabbed this handy item. I retrieved it from my car and went to work! I'd purchased it & an extra pack of staples w/ insulated wire/cable fasteners on clearance. I have several staplers, but for the specific task of securing cables, this one can't be beat. I think you can buy the special wire/ decoration staples for one of the other units I own, but I always have trouble when i use specialty staples or nails with it. This comes with these staples that are designed to staple to wall, trim etc. without crushing cables or wires, so it's handy even without the insulated fasteners. The price of the special staples are cheaper than most items sold in hardware stores for keeping cables off the floor or running wires around doors & windows so you can use as many staples as you need (instead of making an 6 pack of fasteners last for 40 feet of TV cable) & you don't have to try to hammer little tack nails or tiny screws. You just center the wire under the front of the stapler, depress the handle and it has enough force to drive the staple in but doesn't compress or damage cables & wires. Much safer than other methods if using it for Holiday decorating. A staple cutting through a light strand can be a fire hazard, there's no worrying about that with this stapler & special staples. If you need a single tool to do lots&lots of things skip this, but if you want the RIGHT tool for these specific tasks, THIS IS THE ONE. After those cables are out of the way & the Holiday lights are up, you'll probably reach for this instead for your regular stapler for lots of tasks. These staples are easier to remove so a better choice for any temporary tack jobs. Truthfully, I wouldn't have noticed this item if it hadn't been on the clearance rack. But after using it, I would pay more than retail to replace it if it ever vanishes from my tool box. Lisa May 2, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staple outdoor lights The stapler worked well enough and did not jam. However, it did not consistently fully drive the staple into the wood. December 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by staple gun Have not used it yet. But i know it will serve its purpose September 22, 2015
