What is the min. PSI and the max PSI?. I'm looking for a Powerstar to replace my old AE12; Min. 14PSI, Min 150PSI, 220-240 Voltage. Would this one work? My old one supplies hot water for 2 showers & 2 sinks.
Asked by: olive
The water pressure range is 10 - 150 psi. Same as the 12kW. However, the 12kW is thermostatic and the 9.5kW is not (temperature adjustable). Also, the GPM at a given temperature rise will be greater on the 12kW. Example: At 45 degree F rise the 12kW has a 1.8 GPM rating vs 1.4 GPM for the 9.5kW. Home Depot is changing from the PoweStar brand (by Bosch) to the Bosch brand. The Bosch brand model numbers will be US12 and US9. The specs will be the same as PowerStar. This is happening now as inventory is being rotated. So you may want to search under the new model numbers.

Can I wire this heater to a 277v circuit?

Asked by: Amir
No. However, we do make a unit for this purpose. It is model number US6. This is a 6 kW unit at 25 A / 277v. Due to the unique nature of the unit, it is not often carried in the Retail channel. The Home Depot can special order the item. You will need to contact your local store and speak to the Pro desk.

Will this unit support a 1500 square foot home ?

Asked by: charles
No, this item is meant for a Point of Use application only. Such that it will support a sink or a dual sink application. For your application, please see our Whole House tankless water heaters. For 1,500 sq. ft., look at our models WH17 and WH27.

Does this model have T/P outlet and vale?

Also, does it require a pressure reducing valve on supply?
Asked by: Bruce
Hello Bruce, This unit does not have a T&P valve but documentation does recommend consulting local codes on whether or not one is needed. As far as a pressure reducing valve goes, since this is a point of use unit the water pressure should be fine as the PRV of the home/building will already have taken effect. The heater does list that for optimal operation water pressure be no less than 10psi and no greater than 150psi. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This heater was exactly what I was looking for to replace the one that broke. Even on low temperature it provides enough hot water heater to take a shower comfortably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOT Water on Demand - as long as you want! Love It We purchased this model to replace a (low flow) 110v. We paid less for this one, it is a 240v and works far better than the old 110v did from day one! The water is consistantly hot and stays that way the entire shower, hand washing or while doing the dishes. I wish I bought it a year ago instead of fusing with the old off brand model while dreading taking showers in cold water! This 9.5 model installed easy, looks nice and works great! I highly recommend it to anyone after using it for a month. Hunt for the best no more, you found it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was easy to install. Problem it works great for awhile then trips the breaker inside of the heater. Your reply would be ap The instilation process went well. The problem is you use the hot water a couple of times and it trips the breaker on the heater and you have to pull the cover off to reset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for cold places. If in Michigan this is awesome or other cold places. I did not purchase it here tho,but wanted to rate it. I had a RP3 it was not for our Michigan weather like 10F we get in winters. We had it hooked to a bathroom faucet and a shower and it did ok if you want super low water pressure. I checked into this unit and did my homework and Bosch never did me wrong before. Spent 70$ for the wire and added a different circuit breaker for it.. Turned it on and I am so shocked how hot the water is even high pressure even tho they say it is not recommended for a shower . But I say heck ya it is ,and also for my bathroom sink. Have it hooked up in the basement not direct to one item. We have no hot water heater . This does the job. Figured I would let whoever is interested in it in cold places this is a strong A+A+. Good luck!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unit is cracked and leaks After all the work to install this heater after one day's use I had to uninstall it because it leaks. It worked well and was dry and leak free for about an hour. I came back to the shop the next day and there's a big flood in the kitchen. I tightened the connections but the leak is coming from inside the heating element coil. Not happy with this product at all and not happy that I had to spend so much time just to find out it's defective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PowerStar Point-of-Use Electric Water Heater - 9.5 I installed the unit with very little problem. This is a secondary heating unit used only for kitchen sink and dishwasher. Since installing it we have put it through everything we could think of, without fail. Unlike a previous review, the unit works great on our 40 amp breaker so far and have no fear that it will continue to function well. We are a long ways from the breaker panel (80 feet) still no problems. The unit has performed exactly as they stated it would. My recommendations are to follow the installation instructions and recommendations use materials as suggested. Cutting corners to save a dollar is dangerous and foolish. Hope this will be of some help to others.
