is a 20 amp circut breaker big enough?

Asked by: joejoe
It is a single pole 30 amp breaker at 120 volts. It would take running a 10 AWG wire to it.

What is the current requirement in Amperes?

What circuit rating does this require for 120 volts?
Asked by: Natchomomma
3400watts / 120 volts = 28.34 amp #10 wire thhn is good for 30 amps the problem is that will trip a 30amp breaker if used for an hr or longer you can't load a breaker to 100 % of rated load. only 80% witch is 26.5 amps so run #8 wire copper and install 40 amp breaker note 40 amp single pole breaker not normal stock item but in a pinch use only one side of a 2 pole breaker and they are much easier to find Master Electrician

What model delivers necessary GPM for a typical kitchen sink's needs

Asked by: Larry
I suspect the 3.4KW will fall short of your expectations for use with 2 sinks. We asked the Bosch supplier about the capabilities. They suggested and we chose the larger unit. We have been using an AE9.5 under our four sinks for 18 years. We purposely installed 8GA wiring on 2/40 breakers (1 for each unit) when we built the house in 1997, so that was very much easier than retrofitting. The unit in the kitchen has always gotten hot enough with plenty of volume for hand-washing dishes and for the dishwasher, and otherwise general use. We also have one installed in each of our 3 bathrooms, and they each easily support the two sinks simultaneously. We replaced the master bath unit about 3 years ago; it was probably just plain worn out when it quit since it got the most use. So, I guess 15 years is a good run for any heavily used water heater. Incidentally, we replaced our whole-house Bosch AquaStar 175 propane tankless about 4 years ago; it supplied all the showers, tubs, and clothes washer. We do like the Bosch POU water heaters.

What is the min. PSI and the max PSI?. I'm looking for a Powerstar to replace my old AE12; Min. 14PSI, Min 150PSI, 220-240 Voltage. Would this one work? My old one supplies hot water for 2 showers & 2 sinks.

The water pressure range is 10 - 150 psi. Same as the 12kW. However, the 12kW is thermostatic and the 9.5kW is not (temperature adjustable). Also, the GPM at a given temperature rise will be greater on the 12kW. Example: At 45 degree F rise the 12kW has a 1.8 GPM rating vs 1.4 GPM for the 9.5kW. Home Depot is changing from the PoweStar brand (by Bosch) to the Bosch brand. The Bosch brand model numbers will be US12 and US9. The specs will be the same as PowerStar. This is happening now as inventory is being rotated. So you may want to search under the new model numbers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do... Installation was a breeze. The unit is fairly compact and can be located just about anywhere. It allows for horizontal or vertical mounting. This was purchased to supply hot water to 2 small back-to-back sinks. The hot water it produces is barely hot. It's good enough for its intended use, but you can't expect it to supply sufficient hot water to a shower, washing machine or dishwasher. You'll need to look at higher output models for those types of applications. Plus, if both sinks are turned on at once, flow is cut in half. Knowing what I know now, I would not recommend this unit, as it just does not produce enough hot water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works wonderful and is worth every penny. We purchased this on demand water heater for our shop. It is used for washing machine and produces enough water to complete an extra large load. I have owned about 3 months and have no compliants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My opinion! This is a good water heater, my only complaint would be: there is only a low or high heat setting, they really need a medium setting. With low you take a slightly warm shower, and with high you feel like your getting 3rd degree burn.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Restricted Put this in for a sink in my shop, there is 100psi going in the heater and about 1psi coming out. It definitely makes the water hot but there is no pressure what so ever. I thought it was clogged somehow but it is actually restricted internally to a 1/8". If it had more flow it would be great as it heats the amount of water coming out great. Enough so that you could have more flow and it would probably still be scolding hot. Disappointed that I couldn't adjust to get more pressure out. Took it back and am looking for a different heater now. It is the ae7.2 that I had

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This heater was exactly what I was looking for to replace the one that broke. Even on low temperature it provides enough hot water heater to take a shower comfortably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOT Water on Demand - as long as you want! Love It We purchased this model to replace a (low flow) 110v. We paid less for this one, it is a 240v and works far better than the old 110v did from day one! The water is consistantly hot and stays that way the entire shower, hand washing or while doing the dishes. I wish I bought it a year ago instead of fusing with the old off brand model while dreading taking showers in cold water! This 9.5 model installed easy, looks nice and works great! I highly recommend it to anyone after using it for a month. Hunt for the best no more, you found it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only get a trickle of luke warm water The only way to get more than luke warm water is to have a trickle of water, hot (valve) on only. After the cost of the unit, another $100 for 10 guage romex from the circuit breaker to the sink, plus other electrical accessories, only get a trickle of warm water.
