This is my first ever generator, so im very new to this. Where do u suggest to put the generator? I understand it shouldnt go indoors or in a garage?

Can the generator get wet? I'd need to put it either on my deck or porch. Please advise.
Asked by: DollaBill
No generator goes inside home to include garage or by Windows. If you have a covered area in your back yard put it there. This thing is loud.

Customer Reviews

6,000-Watt Gasoline Powered Portable Generator is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great investment Nice generator with a large fuel tank that lasted for hours. We were able to plug in a full size refrigerator/freezer, a small chest freezer, satellite receiver, T.V., gaming consoles and our network equipment with no issues. We were out power for 3 days due to the flooding when Hurricane Matthew showed up. I would have given it 5 stars, but one of the wires connected to the back of the off switch somehow got loose and I couldn't shut the generator down. I reconnected the wire and was able to shut it down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! We had strong winds come through and knocked out power for 1/3 of the state. By the time I got out of work I had to scramble to find one for sale. I knew what brand I wanted but couldn't find it. So I had to settle for the powerstroke 6000. I'm glad I did. I pulled it out of it the box, added the oil, and added gas. I hard wired it to my panel and started it. It ran my entire house for 2 days straight. Freezers, furnace, water heater, tv, well pump, lights, and outlets. I love this machine!

After completing the math, 6k was what we need to survive almost a week with no power to the entire house. When I was nervous we were getting too close the PowerStroke never gave up on us. It is a bit loud but I could hear the generator two streets over so I think this is quite normal. When we weren't using anything but the furnace, fridge and a few electronics (~3k watts) the six gallons last almost 12 hours. When we were using it full capacity we got about 8 hours. We haven't installed the wheels yet because it was too cold outside and needed it plugged in asap so I cant speak to their quality. Took it out of the box ready to go and our electrician took 15 minutes to plug it in the fuse panel by stripping the cord supplied. This left four regular plugs available to lend the neighbor an extension cord. You should use a truck to get this sucker home though, it would not fit in the doors or trunk of my full sized sedan. Very pleased with my new toy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wow! This thing is big and heavy! And loud! But it works. Since the power was out from hurricane Mathew, and we really needed a generator, we didn't have time to shop around, so what they had in stock was what we went with. That being said, it seems to have plenty of power. We ran two refrigerators for almost three days, and it lasted a good 8-9 hours on a tank of gas. I had to get help to load it into my pickup at the store, and the only way I could get it off at home was to unbox it and put the wheels on in the bed of my truck, then build a ramp to roll it down. It is way too heavy for my wife and I to pick up. It was easy to start up, and ran without any issues, but even sitting outside away from the house, we just had to shut it off for a few hours at night see we could sleep. It would be nice if it was just a bit quieter. I may look into putting a better muffler on it. One feature I like is that it has a 240 volt output, and I might be able to use it to run a welder if I need to do any welding away from the workshop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOUD! This is a really good generator- I was able to keep my refrigerator, 2fans, and several lights going during the power outage (12 hours) from Hurricane Matthew. It's just the loudest generator I've ever heard!
