Questions & Answers

Does it make rows for planting

Asked by: Hi
I did this. Left off the outer tines and tine shield. After tilling back and forth, I used a farrow hoe to make the row and placed a drip line in it. It made the dirt soft and easy to manipulate with the hoe.

are the two outside tines suppose to be loose? it still have rooom and wiggle.

Asked by: sonny
some play is normal but they should be turned when the motor turns the tines

This unit stalls constantly - thirty seconds into engaging the tines, it stalls out after plenty of warm up.

This is a brand new model - it will work for a little while but I have to keep backing off the tines to keep it from stalling out. I don't see an idle adjustment. I'm frustrated!

You need to take it back & exchange it, you got a lemon, mine runs smooth & STRONG! We had to take back a different more expensive model due too the same symptoms your describing, that's how we purchased this one & no problems!

I filled it with gas and oil and pulled the cord one time and it started right up. It always started on the first pull. Very easy to use. I used it first on soil that has been tilled for the last 3 years and it cut right through. I then tried it on very hard untilled area. Yes, you do have to hold on a little tighter, but it did everything it was supposed to do. It cut through root and dug up rocks. I have only used this tiller for one full day so it is hard to what it will do the next time I use it. So just based on very little experience with it I would give it 4 1/2 stars.

No throttle control, runs wide open the whole time. Too light weight, jerks you to pieces and won't dig. Swing axle makes it hard to move around. Wish they still made them like they use to over 40 years ago.

Took 1 1/2 Hrs to assemble, filled it up w/ oil & gas , primed it, first pull started right up! VERY sturdy machine. This tiller busted up VERY hard ground & roots without any issues! VERY STRONG! Awesome feature is that you can have rows 11" spaced up to 21" by just removing or adding tines! that's genius! Easy to use, and going to make gardening a breeze this year!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from day 1. like it Installation for me was a bugger. Mother said it was easy I found it quite difficult. Some of the bolts are metric some are English. So it seems in my bag. It took me and my son about an hour to put it together. The lower handle bolts seemed to cross thred into the tiller. Once we got going it actually works really well. Compared to my Honda small garden tiller this is better. I'm cutting through about 6 inches of topsoil in a space about 30 x 30 and it took less than 40 minutes. I probably went over it two times. I would give five stars except for the installation instructions and cross threading. And keep in mind this is my first day if ownership.

The wheels fold in and allow the bar to dig in. But both fold in while moving across lawn areas, and are too narrow to maintain the tiller in an upright position. This tiller is VERY topheavy and loves to fall over. Your tilling area is fine if perfectly level, but on a slight grade it loves to flop on it's side. Handle is very long, and tough to run in a fenced area. Clutch mechanism has no slippage, so be in position first! I replaced an old Agway unit with this and should have repaired the old one.

Assembly instructions aren't that great but it's simple to assemble and intuitive so not a big deal. Tills great! I tilled a 15ft x 25ft garden that was severely overgrown with weeds and tall grass and this thing handled it wonderfully. Not for the weak though as it tends to grab and pull you if it hits rocks or some hard dirt. If you don't mind a little hard work controlling it then this is a great purchase. Like I said, it tills great, just requires some muscle.

First the good: Easy assembly, good fit and finish, started with two pulls of the cord. Soil conditions: Top soil that was tilled last season, slightly damp with a dry crust. No rocks or roots. Now the bad: poor design features. The engine spins fast and so do the tines. The drag stake is ineffective regardless of the adjustment. In fact, at the deepest setting, the tip of the stake will hit the gearbox when the tiller is sitting on its wheels. The swinging rear axle is a nice feature, but the geometry is not quite right. Tip the tiller up and you have to reach down with the toe of your foot to give the axle a nudge either forward or reverse. Now probably the worse defect. On untilled ground, the gearbox prevents the tiller from digging down into the dirt or moving forward without great effort on the part of the operator. There is a dead "zone" where the tines do not dig into the soil, so the tiller essentially rests on this spot and the tines just spin. I hope my photos help show this. This machine will beat you up. I'm 6'4",250+ lbs., I cannot imagine someone lighter using this machine.
