Needed a high pressure compressor. This compressor is what I was looking for at a very good price.

I am a professional woodworker of 20+ years. I've been an employee, and self employed. I have used many brands of air compressors. I have owned 2 (now 3) air compressors personally.
My 10 year old, 33 gallon Craftsman oil-free AC finally died, so I began my search for it's replacement. I wanted an oil-free AC with at least 150 psi, with a tank capacity of no less than 10 gallons, and a price of no more than $300. I looked at Craftsman ACs on-line, but I was reading far too many negative reviews about them.
I went to the website of a Home Depot competitor (another big-box home improvement store) to see what they had to offer. This Powermate AC was the only one the other store offered that met my requirements. Two problems: It wasn't in stock at any local store, and it wasn't available on-line. So I Googled this model, and the top choice was Home Depot. HD doesn't sell this model in-store, but they do on-line.
I've never used a Powermate compressor before. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of the brand. I read reviews for other Pm ACs, because this model wasn't reviewed anywhere. Reviews were mixed, but they leaned more positive than negative. So I took a chance, and I'm happy I did. I've been using this AC for 3 or 4 weeks now for various purposes, and it performs just as well as any other AC I've used. At this point, the only unknown is longevity. If this AC lasts as long as the Craftsman AC I mentioned earlier, I'll be very happy.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ALLEN0105 Great Little Compressor
This is a Great Little Compressor. Keep in mind little. Good compressor for the home work shop and for the Do It Yourselfers. The small tank may be a negative if you expect the 200 psi to preform better than a 150 psi with a larger tank. The small tank created with me a problem. It only took a couple of minutes use and the compressor was running again. Fortunately and unfortunately I have a tank from my last compressor that after many years finally gave out. I hooked my old 20 gallon tank to my new compressor that has a 15 gallon tank. Now with 35 gallon tank the compressor doesn't need to run all the time. This is a Mighty little compressor. 200 psi is a great compressor for most do it Yourselfers.

So for so good. Used it a few times, pumps up, holds pressor (no leaks). Would have given it a five, but the manual says the working range is 200 psi down to 170 psi. This one pumps up right at 200 psi(cut out), but doesn't cut back in until 150 psi. I can live with that. By the way I own 6 compressors. The one I use depends on the job I'm doing.

very good product for the price. I like that it airs up to 200 psi. I will use it for air tools , tires. and blowing things off with air. It's a little loud but , that is to be expected with an oil less compressor ....

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NBOfromOkemos OK first impressions but with some things to note
Ordered this online. Arrived about 5-7 days later well packaged. Only assembly required is to attach wheels with two axle bolts. It's not very portable. Wheels don't spin easily when loaded with the weight of the compressor (spin easily when unloaded). First time use took 9 minutes to fill tank to shut-off pressure. The shut-of pressure was 180 PSI not the 200 claimed (if my gauge is accurate). Hold pressure without a leak for days. If you look at the picture notice that the handle does not protect the regulator and gauges as designed on many other stand-up compressors. If this thing were to ever get tipped, there is nothing to protect these sensitive parts. Finally, I was surprised to see that all my other quick connect hoses will not fit this unit. It takes a smaller quick connect coupling that my Porter Cable pancake, and my old trusty Sears (Devilbiss) compressor. You won't be able to share hoses with any other compressors like those. Finally, Drain cocks at the bottom of compressors need to be replaced from time to time. I try to purchase replacements before I need them -- you always end up needing them when in the middle of a project. So far, I can't find a source for parts for this unit. This model is shown on the powermate website, but they don't show either the manual or the parts list, nor an obvious way to purchase parts. I'm still looking but be aware of this potential limitation. For the price I'm still glad i got this (though I've only had it for a few days), but long term how will it hold up??

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Alexthedog No need to spend more money
I'm a contractor who's livelihood relies on dependable tools. Haven't had this long enough to tell how it will hold up, but looks like a good unit. I never heard of Powermate, but I've seen this same unit sold under various big-name brands, so it must be decent equipment.
Arrived with the plastic housing all broken from being dropped (UPS). Didn't want to send back as I needed it to finish a job I started when my old compressor died, so I pieced it back together with Gorilla Tape and put into service. Cycled well and I was able to complete my project (20 X 30' workshop). Can't see any reason to spend more money for a high-end compressor, unless this one fails sooner than it's predecessor.
A word about Home Depot: I got burnt from buying tools from a "Tool Co." that made promises they would not honor. Home Depot stands behind their products by offering replacements if needed without protest. As always, Home Depot had the good price and got it to me quickly.
