After Irene last year in the North East - it became apparent that a Generator was not a bad idea...
Enter the Powermate 3250.
193.5 hours without Power in NJ and this generator did great.
Comes out of the box ready to go (I added a little Oil). 4 outlets with an extra 240 output and super easy & smooth Start-up.
We had 2 refrigerators and a spare outlet to run the radio, coffee maker or toaster (sparingly and not at the same time). Circuit breakers let you know if your getting too greedy.
My neighbor even benefited from my excellent planning and ran his fridge... Moocher :-)
For the price and easy of use, I would highly recommend it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rwtaylor nice little generator
ive had a lot of small generators this gen performs well for what you pay for it ... its 50 dollars less than generac gp3250 and works just as well plus gives extra outlet and hour meter so you dont have to guess how many hours is on it ...it will run a 10 amp skill saw or my right angle drill that draws 12 amps with no problems but not at the same time ... i have to admit briggs and stratton has a stronger engine for about the same size gen i can pull more off of it but its 150.00 dollars more than this unit ..this engine seems to boog down easier than the briggs but for the money its a good deal and im happy with the unit ..hope my 2 cents helps

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ferd Piece of garbage
This thing is a piece of garbage. I bought it after Hurricane Sandy hit as I didn't want to be without a generator again. We are now faced with a blizzard here in the northeast within 24 hours. I went to start it up and nothing. It will start on the the ether and run for a few seconds and thats it. It appears to be a fuel problem as I dont smell gasoline after pulling it about 50 times. Now for you purists out there I do excercise it once every 6 months and stabilize the gas. Initially when I bought it it revved and did not run smoothly and I brought it back to Home Depot. They took it in and tested it and said nothing is wrong- brought it back home and it still revved. Long story short I brought it into the shop myself. They said it was a carborator adjustment-It then ran fine. In conclusion the machine has 3 hours on it by the digital clock and its going for it's second visit to the repair shop.

I bought this generator just in case the power went out from Hurricane Sandy. This was the last one that my Home Depot had in stock and it was return from another customer. I took a chance and it paid off big time. I am still out of power after 8 days and i have 120 hours in this generator. It has performed flawlessly. Its great on gas. I am powering 2 refridgerators, lcd TV, router, and 3 fishtanks with no power. I have also rigged up my furnace so I can run that off the generator. This is the best deal I ever made.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by chauz Good generator for the price
The generator performed way better than i expected, for the initial run, i ran it @ varying loads for 30 minutes to seat piston rings and then held a full load for 10 minutes with no problems.
ran cheap 10w30 for the break-in ,changed oil ran again for 2 minutes and then drained, refilled with amsoil 10w30. Its a nice quiet running engine, has a quick governor and I like the Japanese carburetor, its built well and has a drain plug on the bowl to drain fuel before storage. this unit has a rock solid alternator with AVR that holds a good voltage across the load range, also very good on fuel consumption, love the Hour meter to keep track on maintenance. can't find nothing bad to say about it, like i said a good generator for the price, cant beat it.
Note: the 120/240 volt receptacle is a NEMA L14 -20 amp,
not a 30 amp. these two are different and not backwards compatible. be sure to get a NEMA L14-20 compatible cord
Meter Readings :
no load - 122/243 Volts @ 62 Hz
50% load - 120/239 Volts @ 60 Hz
Full Load - 113/234 Volts @ 59 Hz
Engine Speed Governed @ 3600 rpm

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kid4x4 Small generator with quality features.
As a mechanic and welder I have really been impressed with this generator. I use it at my deer lease to run a few indoor lights and a 10.000 btu window air conditioner. I bought it because it had the 220 outlet on it and all I have to do is plug it in and go. There was no assembly required, just add oil and gas and it is ready to go. It usually starts on the first or second pull and is fairly quiet running. It has a 5 gallon tank and with the ac running it uses about 2 gallons of gas in 9 to 10 hours. I like the fact that it has the low oil shutdown in case something happens at night or while I'm away from the camper.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kutzukid Seems to be what I was looking for
Bought it for my daughter birthday/Christmas,,,she lives in a rural area that can have extended power outages. Cranked about third pull after adding oil. Mobile enough for her to move around. The appliances and tools we plugged in testing it did not even slow it down....looks like what she needs and the price was right. Con: I had read previous reviews and had oil on hand when unit arrived, need 20 oz. Will run a hour or two and change oil then recommended maintenace after that..Happy with decision to buy it, and features

Bought this generator from homedepot. I used it once and then was hard to start. On the second use the recoil assembly broke and no longer worked. Replacement part is not in stock and no time of arrival is sight.
