Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Got us through Sandy After Irene last year in the North East - it became apparent that a Generator was not a bad idea... Enter the Powermate 3250. 193.5 hours without Power in NJ and this generator did great. Comes out of the box ready to go (I added a little Oil). 4 outlets with an extra 240 output and super easy & smooth Start-up. We had 2 refrigerators and a spare outlet to run the radio, coffee maker or toaster (sparingly and not at the same time). Circuit breakers let you know if your getting too greedy. My neighbor even benefited from my excellent planning and ran his fridge... Moocher :-) For the price and easy of use, I would highly recommend it. November 8, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice little generator ive had a lot of small generators this gen performs well for what you pay for it ... its 50 dollars less than generac gp3250 and works just as well plus gives extra outlet and hour meter so you dont have to guess how many hours is on it ...it will run a 10 amp skill saw or my right angle drill that draws 12 amps with no problems but not at the same time ... i have to admit briggs and stratton has a stronger engine for about the same size gen i can pull more off of it but its 150.00 dollars more than this unit ..this engine seems to boog down easier than the briggs but for the money its a good deal and im happy with the unit ..hope my 2 cents helps September 3, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of garbage This thing is a piece of garbage. I bought it after Hurricane Sandy hit as I didn't want to be without a generator again. We are now faced with a blizzard here in the northeast within 24 hours. I went to start it up and nothing. It will start on the the ether and run for a few seconds and thats it. It appears to be a fuel problem as I dont smell gasoline after pulling it about 50 times. Now for you purists out there I do excercise it once every 6 months and stabilize the gas. Initially when I bought it it revved and did not run smoothly and I brought it back to Home Depot. They took it in and tested it and said nothing is wrong- brought it back home and it still revved. Long story short I brought it into the shop myself. They said it was a carborator adjustment-It then ran fine. In conclusion the machine has 3 hours on it by the digital clock and its going for it's second visit to the repair shop. January 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worked for a little while, then died, Coleman support is nonexistent. Be aware that Coleman is basically a licensing organization- that is, they neither manufacture nor support the products that bear their name, they merely sell the right for other companies to use it. There is no consistent quality control across product lines and no one within the company that can help should something go wrong. My generator functioned well for a short time, then gave up the ghost. The company gave me the run around, never offering a solution. Home Depot helped to resolve the problem. October 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bought the generator for Hurricane Sandy I bought this generator just in case the power went out from Hurricane Sandy. This was the last one that my Home Depot had in stock and it was return from another customer. I took a chance and it paid off big time. I am still out of power after 8 days and i have 120 hours in this generator. It has performed flawlessly. Its great on gas. I am powering 2 refridgerators, lcd TV, router, and 3 fishtanks with no power. I have also rigged up my furnace so I can run that off the generator. This is the best deal I ever made. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by lemon Bought this generator from homedepot. I used it once and then was hard to start. On the second use the recoil assembly broke and no longer worked. Replacement part is not in stock and no time of arrival is sight. Would not recommend this product December 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Small generator with quality features. As a mechanic and welder I have really been impressed with this generator. I use it at my deer lease to run a few indoor lights and a 10.000 btu window air conditioner. I bought it because it had the 220 outlet on it and all I have to do is plug it in and go. There was no assembly required, just add oil and gas and it is ready to go. It usually starts on the first or second pull and is fairly quiet running. It has a 5 gallon tank and with the ac running it uses about 2 gallons of gas in 9 to 10 hours. I like the fact that it has the low oil shutdown in case something happens at night or while I'm away from the camper. June 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little package A little small in the power department, but for the sub $300, its saved our pipes from freezing in a winter power outage. Great looking unit and operated perfectly for me as our was a store return at the price offered today online as new! Connector is 20 amp as mentioned by a reviewer. While not encouraged, I backfed our panel. You MUST disconnect the main circuit panel to not be connected to the grid. Backfeeding the grid can KILL a power worker! I tell you this, because if you plan to run your boiler or heat, you'll need to plan ahead and use the 20 amp connector hard wired into your service panel. Otherwise, its plug in items by extension cord only. RV shops carry a 20A / 30A adapter so you can plug the smaller 20AMP into a bigger service "plug" in trailers / RVs. Everyone should have one, but plan now for its future use unless your simple need is lights or HDTV at the beach / mtns / lake. I only have 5 hrs on mine so longevity isn't part of my review. Its started all 3 times I've tried. May 6, 2015
