Customer Questions & Answers

Is it the same as the Husky?

Is this model also sold as a 'Husky 30-Gal. Portable Electric Air Compressor'? The latter is available in store and cheaper... But the Husky demo in my store was red and the website picture shows the it as black. And it's not clear from the instructions manual for the Husky whether it can really wired for 240V.

Good Question the Husky seems like it is exactly the same unit except for the maximum PSI output is different Powermate claims 155psi, the Husky claims 135psi.

The bleed valve on the bottom of the tank was difficult to get to and I purchased a separate extension for this. Also product description reports and shows pneumatic wheels, but hard solid wheels were delivered. I saw another review with similar comment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome compressor for the price. Much quiter than oilless compressors I've had in the past! Among the best compressors in it's price range. Was sluggish and would blow the breaker during hot restarts on an unloaded 15 amp circuit, So I ran a new 20 amp circuit, and now it always restarts without hesitation(wanted a 20amp outlet in the garage anyways for other tools). It's the perfect garage/shop compressor. Perfect for my main air tools....impact guns and grinders, but also keeps up well with my HVLP paint gun well too. Only annoying thing is the drain is a knarled screw that's hard to grab under the tank, will probably replace this next time I get out to the hardware store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Of The Line For Home Use And Small Shops I needed a 30 gallon air compressor so after searching the web i bought a Husky (VT6315) at a great price but after performing the break in the motor started to knock so it was returned and i bought this Powermate and what a difference in quality, this is quieter and easier to move and the belt cage isn't plastic. The tires are pneumatic not hard plastic or hard rubber and the tank is aluminum so it cuts down on weight and rust concerns. The delivery was excellent and the unit was not damaged but i would have like the driver to take the pallet and the container back but that's a small inconvenience as long as you have a truck and dump permit.Over all the extra money spent was worth the quality of the machine and it has a 2 year warranty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cabinet spraying This unit is awsome! I can spray any thing I may need in cabinetry. The make air is as fast as discribed; The 30 gal. tank covers all bases. I used a $5000 unit before. This unit does all that unit did and it is transportable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As a professional, hobbyist, or Backyard mechanic. This is the unit that is worthy of it's value and resources to perform. My Automotive Business's oil-less compressor died in the middle of a paint job and because of all the positive comments on the Powermate 30Gal Portable Compressor I decided to order and wait a week for the delivery to the H.D. store submitted in the order. To date (one month) I have not been disappointed in either the purchased product or the delivery process from HomeDepot. I can now perform all my current projects and hear the phone ring and carry a conversation with customers while the compressor's running. Everything and more than I needed to sustain the business and thanks to all that submitted comments on this product. Owner and CEO, Tino

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 30 Gallon Portable Twin Pump Compressor Very powerfull, and once is full, it take as little as 90 second to fill back to 150 PSI after use. I used it extensivley in my home shop for every thing needed with air tools. I have been using it every day for the last two weeks. Need almost a dedicated 20A line. Very well made, excellent desighn, Twin power motor makes it nice to have, lots of pressure and oil lubricated twin pump is vey quite. I should had this compressor a long time, and quit messing around with oiless compressors as I did for years. For the serious DIY home shop, this is the only way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it! Purchased this one year ago. Mine has has the metal belt cage as shown in picture. Unit is very quite, quick recovery and well built. Initially I purchased the Husky/Cambell Hausfied - that unit was very poorly assembled. Large belt pulley had a cross threaded nut holding it to the shaft. Knock in motor. Anyway, this powermate has been a pleasure to use. 95% of my use is for cleaning. Blowing out chain saw, car detail work, bike cleaning. Anything that is difficult to clean by hand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really a 110 Purchased this on line. Had to pay the $55 shipping because they wouldn't ship to store. Read the instructions that said it came with no oil in it, thought I would check anyway since I couldn't see anything in the sight glass. Use a socket to break the drain plug loose, a crescent wrench will just round it off because it's in there so tight. Needless to say it was full of oil. Drained it down to where it sould be in the sight glass and was good to go. It kept kicking the 15 amp breaker out. Finally had to rewire the motor to 220 so it would start like it should. So far it's doing what it should, but it only has an hour run time on it. We'll see how it does after 50 hours.
