Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What a joke I've returned this item within the first 30 days because the carburetor screws fell out poured gas everywhere and pull string broke. I got the new one and now less than 30 days later same deal. Now I'm looking for replacement parts. What a joke save your money July 31, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of Money I bought this edger a year ago and this year it will not run. I installed new spark plug but still will not start. I love Homedepot but this was a total waste of money. I will not buy Powermate products again. In addition this unit will not work on curbs, and it it has no user excellerator lever. July 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't waste your money Worked for about 6 months, then hard to start, then won't start and cord broke. Junk April 22, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worked well for 1 year Ran fine for 1 year. Only used about 15 times. Last time it just stopped in the middle of use. Cannot get restarted. When it ran, I could not get blade to stop turning (i.e. belt does not loosen up enough to completely disengage.) No throttle setting. I previously had an edger with 4 wheels. I liked that configuration a lot better I checked the oil, and verified that gas in getting to carburetor. I have a Honda FG110 mini tiller. Ordered a edger blade for that today. Hopefully Honda's quality will work well in the new configuration. August 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Experience I bought this edger after using a MTD Edger for years. I didn't care for the primer setup on the old edger since it usually took many pulls and pumps on the primer to get it started. When I got this edger home and started it (first pull) the blade housing began to wobble and shake to point of not being able to use. I returned it the next day and received another unit that we tested at the store before bringing it home. The second unit worked fine but it began leaking oil after the first use. The store staff was very apologetic and refunded my money without an issue. It could have been just bad luck but I decided to go back to an American made edger with a heavier duty blade assembly and standard B&S engine. June 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stay away from this one I liked this edger, until the tiny, inaccessible gas filter fell off inside the gas tank. Now I'm constantly having difficulty keeping it running because the tiniest bit of dirt stops up the carburetor. And the only way to get to the carb involves draining the gas tank, and there's no way to replace the filter.. I wrote to the manufacturer (MAT) and they send a replacement gas filter but the tank would have to be cut open to install it. As they say "you get what you pay for". It's a pity because I liked the edger itself. April 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Pleased Very Pleased. I was very leery of this purchase due to it not being listed as one of the tops. So far it seems it could be better than them. Pros: - Very good quality - Nice Design - Good looking machine, looks of commercial quality. - Engine has a metal gas tank and lid, not plastic. - Starts first pull, every time. (just always choke) - Easy to use Cons: Can't edge around curves... but neither can the others of this type. Would like to know who manufactures the engine.. Please! I would prefer a manual gas throttle as opposed to the automatic this has. June 4, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst edger ever bought, should have returned it immediately after buying it,it took over 20 primes to start. The blade has no neutral position so it keeps spinning. Tried to have fixed but no one will work on it since it is chinese made and I took it to 5 different repair shops and no one knew what type of engine it was. Ihave used gasoline yard equipment for 50 yrs, and i would never buy any product with powermate on it and that includes thier generators, who i have known 2 people on deer leases that wish they never bought them.
