Customer Questions & Answers

Would this work on tile that is laid in a pretty thick layer of thinset? Could this also remove the thinset?

Have some porcelain tile that is in a pretty thick bed of versabond thinset mortar. Would this remove both the tile and thinset? Thanks!
Asked by: JT
It works very well for this removing tile as long as you have a compressor that can supply adequate volume for continuous use. Smoothing off all the thinset to lay more tile is possible but it takes a while. The grinder with the diamond wheel that the tile guys use can smooth it all in about 1/10 the time.

Does this tool come with the quick connect fitting to hook straight up to my air compressor hose?

Asked by: Mark
No, you have to buy that separately.

What is the knob next to the air inlet for?

There is a knurled black metal knob next to the air inlet. What is it for? Speed control?
Asked by: Nick
It bleeds off some air in case your compressor pressure is too high or you need a less vigorous action.

Can this tool be used to peel small peices of tree trunks?

I have about 20" tree trunk peices that i need to peel. Can I use this?
Asked by: Roy
You could do damage to the log but it would help peel the trunk off of the log. The primary use is in the masonry area of work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so far so good I bought this gun because it was cheap and is rated at a low CFM. FOr years I have used the Campell Hausfield which is rated at 13 CFM for chipping the edge of stucco for patch jobs. Small compressors (1.5 HP) will not keep up. My compressor kept up pretty well (but not completely) so this gun does seem to use less air which is great. It seems a little less powerful though. I've only used it on one job so far and the stucco was not as hard as some. So like I say "so far so good" A few more jobs will give me a better idea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy! Great product for the price. I had to remove thinset from concrete in a small bathroom. The air chisel handled the job very well. It was slow going because the chisel is so narrow, but I knew how wide it was when purchased. Since this was a one time only project, it didn't make sense to buy a wider more expensive model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked OK except air leak Air Hammer works great, the problem is that it had an air leak at the air adjustment valve. Could not stop the air leak no matter how you adjusted the valve. Called the company, they acknowledged they had a problem with the valve. They instructed me to bring it back to Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy for the price I used this air hammer to remove tiles that was installed over concrete slab. It made a quick work of tile removal process. It's a light weight and grip is contoured well enough to be comfortable for about an hour of continuous work. That may be because of the gloves that I had on, but that's another review for another day. It is a light duty, so this won't break thick concrete... if you do, i don't see this hammer lasting too long. But what the heck... for this price (less than $14), go buy another one if it breaks!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Seemed well made but large air bleed When I hooked this up to the compressor a large amount of air bled out of the regulator shaft. While the hammer seemed to work okay, the large air bleed kept the compressor running constantly and the air bleed was very annoying when the trigger was not depressed. I imagine that the bleed also reduced the power of the hammer. I assume that there is something faulty with the gun and I will be returning it. I don't have time to wait to have another one to be shipped to me so I have already purchased the Husky air hammer from HD for slightly more money and am satisfied with it.
