Asked by: john
The gun would need to stay fairly level to siphon the paint into the nozzle properly. It may be difficult to spray a ceiling with this gun for that reason. If it is not level the siphon tube will not pull the paint upwards into the nozzle.

I wan t to paint with water base paint. Can this spray paint right out of can? Does it need to thin the paint?

I got air compressor. I tried to use LVLP gun with 1.4mm and 2.5mm nozzle and got bad result. Can this one spray latex paint out of can without mixing with water to thin the paint? I hate mixing with water before painting. It is messy.

Basic Spray Gun is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the small jobs There are paint jobs that I have been putting off because they were small and I didn't want to haul my airless paint sprayer out for such small area paint jobs. This is just right for the small paint jobs that I have to do. Like the roof of the dog house, the roof of the metal shed that is beginning to rust. Now I have no reason for not getting these done, with the exception that I am too busy doing other things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I had ordered an air compressor from HD and needed a few accessories. My mother needed her deck cleaned and painted. This spray gun worked very well. Had the deck painted in a flash. It came with all the necessary connectors, without having to purchase anything extra to make it fit the hose on the air compressor. It cleaned up easily and ready for the next job of spraying some patio furniture. It is very nice for the price too which is a big plus for me.

I used this to apply paint/stain to my 4 x 4 poles. Then looked for more to do once I got going... Talk about ease and unit has a comfortable feel with the pistol type grip. Best operating pressure is 40 psi. (not to exceed 50 psi) This comes with an extra spray head and air adapter which you may change depending on your air line. This unit cleans up nicely. I like it because it is simple and works great!

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed in the performance of this spray gun. Because it was a bleeder type gun, there is a constant flow of air coming out of the spray tip. However, i assumed that the paint flow would have on/off control with the trigger. I was wrong. I could regulate the volume of paint with the adjustment, but could not stop the flow of paint as long as the air was connected.

This basic spray gun is the perfect solution for when spraying applications of paint is needed. It's durable, well designed and strong enough to last over many projects! This spray gun is just right for the amateur painter along with the pro. It is easy to set up, and extremely easy to clean and take apart. The nozzle is the perfect combination of strength and delicacy that makes any application a breeze!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! Don't underestimate the price here; for what it's worth and the amount of various things you can spray though this, it's one of the best values I've seen. I've never heard of Powermate before, but apparently it's one of Coleman's line-up of tools. I was skeptical of it being able to perform well, but this underdog may just break record sales. It can shoot everything from primer, latex and oil to stain and clear. As a result, it comes with two tips (an internal mix and external) depending on what you're spraying. The air fitting is located in the back of the gun, so spraying is very comfortable since the hose doesn't get in the way. This also transfers more of the weight to the back and makes for good ergonomics. I need to get cracking on a few paint projects that have been piling up. I have an airless and have wanted to get a portable sprayer for a while now, since they're smaller and easier to clean. This fits the bill in every way possible! It is recommended to spray between 25 and 50 psi, not exceeding 50. I sprayed an area of wall with primer and it worked magnificent. I was shocked at how well such a cheap gun can perform. -Cheap in price but not quality! *Just a side note: since this is a tube-fed system, it WILL NOT spray ceilings. The small specks of paint you see in the pictures were due to old primer which was not strained through a net beforehand and not the fault of the gun.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing thicker than water First, I have been painting for a living for 10 years. I have sprayed with everything from a rattle can up to a $4000 pro paint sprayer and everything between. This sprayer says it comes with a nozzle for LATEX paint, so it SHOULD spray latex if you thin it a little (and strain it of course) right? Wrong! I did that and nothing would come out. So I thinned it a little more. And then a little more. Finally I got it to spray (kinda). with very thin paint it still wasn't putting out very much, so I had to hold it close to the wall and go very slow. In about 7 minutes it clogged, and I gave up and got out the roller, which now took 3 coats to cover instead of 2 because I had to thin the paint so much. MIGHT be ok for stain or something really thin

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Ok. So it may seem to early writing this review but it just so happened to be. I am a DIYer and do so handy man work. I was working on restoring an old desk that my grandfather had. Ihad it all ready to be restained and varnished. I got this just in time. I took it out of the box the same afternoon UPS dropped it at my door. I sprayed the first coat of stain on. waited a while and sprayed on another coat. the next morning i was amazed at how it looked. sprayed the clear on it . This spay gun is well worth it.
