CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to set up and use. Powerful. A great machine. Out of the box, set up of the Powermate Cyclone Leaf Blower was quick and easy, requiring only attachment of the handle using the included metal bolts and plastic wing nuts. I assume these machines are tested at the factory before release as the blower smelled strongly of gasoline and there was a small amount of gas in the fuel tank, as well as oil in the crankcase, which I didn’t know until I attempted to add oil as instructed by the operations manual. A 19 ounce bottle of SAE oil is included. The manual instructs to pour the entire contents of the oil into the crankcase, but since there was already some amount of oil in there, I overfilled the reservoir and had to remove oil before operating the blower for the first time. In hindsight, I should have checked the oil level while slowly adding oil to avoid overfilling. The blower’s 4-stroke engine requires no mixing of gas and oil. This is a solid, well-built piece of equipment and one that I much prefer over a backpack leaf blower. The gauge quality of the steel is very good and IMHO is comparable to commercial-grade lawn equipment. The recoil pull start is easy, but one comment is that the location of the pull start handle is behind the blower’s lower bar handle, making the bar handle seem like an afterthought or that the blower was designed without a handle in mind. Once you manage to grab the handle, pull start is fairly easy and the odd placement of the handle does make you pull the cord in a straight up manner, as is required for starting. In terms of operation, this blower does a great job of quickly displacing leaves and light yard debris, especially off of pavement and patio areas. The wheels are not self-propelled, but they are large and roll easily, even over grass, although it’s more difficult to blow leaves off the lawn due to resistance created by the grass. I was able to clear a 1-acre property in under an hour, which is impressive considering that it’d ordinarily take me several hours to do the same area using my backpack leaf blower. The Powermate blower includes an optional-use attachment for blowing leaves frontward rather than to the side. The air flow can be adjusted between 3 positions: straight (level), 15-degrees upward and 15-degrees downward. When not in use, the front flow attachment can be stored under the frame at the rear of the blower. In terms of noise, this unit is louder than a walk-behind lawnmower, so hearing protection is recommended. I’ve used this leaf blower several times. This is a great leaf blower and has exceeded my expectations. October 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very powerful Blower This blower is very powerful. I added the oil and gas and on the first pull it started right up. I moved a lot of leaves to one side of my yard to make it easy to rack. I enjoyed using this item as it has a very power full blower that can be adjusted to different heights. You can also put on the front blower adapter that is include with the blower. This blower probably saved me two hours worth of raking. I would recommend for anyone that has a lot of leaves. It is also small enough that it can be stored easily without taking up a lot of space. October 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very powerful I’m very excited to own this machine, and not just because all my neighbors will be jealous. This blower packs a serious punch. It will easily cut my leaf blowing time in half. ASSEMBLY: As easy as it gets – attach the handle with 2 screws, pour in the included oil, and add gasoline. That’s it. USING THE BLOWER: The amount of air this thing moves is incredible. It is far superior to my handheld gas blower. It will definitely take some getting used to, but once I do I’m confident it will cut my leaf blowing time half while doing a better job. The mouth of the blower can be adjusted to change the angle of the airflow vertically in 15 degree increments (down towards the ground, straight out, or up) – I found the middle setting (straight out) seemed to work the best for me. There is also an attachment that will change the direction of the airflow from pointing left to pointing straight ahead. I found this to be useful along my fence. When not in use it tucks neatly away below the machine. The swivel wheel on the front of the blower is a simple but nice feature - it makes it very easy to turn the blower without having to pivot it up on the back wheels like a lawn mower. SUMMARY If you have a large yard and get a lot of leaves, this blower is worth its weight in gold. It is probably overkill for any property less than ¼ acre. December 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Powerful, functional and easy to store This blower replaced my gas powered hand held blower and I am very happy with the giant leap I have made. Right out of the box, there wasn’t much involved to assemble it, just attached the handles, added the oil & gas and I was rolling. I have not experienced any startup troubles to date. In fact my experience had always been great with other Powermate yard tools I own. One thing I always recommend is not to use Ethanol based gas especially within the month when you plan to store it for a longer period of time or siphon the gas before storing and your gas tools will last you ages. I have a 0.2 acre backyard and this blower has been great keeping it clean and green in a lot less time with a lot less effort. My yard is graded pretty straight and I generally keep the grass 3-4 inches tall. With that, I am able to easily maneuver it back and forth. Some reviewers mentioned that its front small wheel makes the maneuverability difficult on uneven terrain. In my experience, uneven terrain always adds some struggle to the handling so I would not say it’s due to the wheel size. Blower is capable of discharging the air from the front or the left side. I have used both and I believe that the side discharge is more functional and allows me to cover large areas easily. The construction is solid and nicely finished however I will recommend storing it inside the garage rather than covering it outdoors. I really appreciate the soft padding on the handle; it does help during long cleaning tasks. I am yet to find a problem with this blower. I love it and recommend for personal use. October 31, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for Big Residential Projects Easy to setup and start right out of the box. Built very sturdy. The front wheel gets caught up a lot in bumpy and not so flat surfaces. A lot easier to use than a back back or hand held blower. I would recommend this for a Residential user and not a Commercial user. Offers enough power for a back yard but may fall short if using for a big commercial clean up. It is standard for the flow to blow the leaves to the left. It comes with a front flow adjustment which allows you to blow leafs to the front of you. October 28, 2014
