Yesterday I insulated about 100' of hot water pipes in my basement. Installation was a breeze, very easy to work with. I happened to be down there this morning, and almost every section I applied has become unglued from itself, leaving lengthwise gaps, especially near fittings on the pipes. Kind of defeats the purpose of insulating. Now I have to go back and tape each piece closed.
This is the gray stuff; I'd recommend going to the competitor with the shorter name and blue lettering, and getting the darker stuff instead (PE foam). I installed some of their brand several weeks ago and had no such problem, it's as good as when I installed it, even close to the boiler where the water temperatures are higher.

You can find this and other sizes, some larger, up on higher shelves in the plumbing department so they are hard to find unless someone has left a few leaning on the shelves at floor level. You can also find some of these and a few larger sizes at the front of the store near customer returns.

The sealant doesn't stick on hot water pipes. No reason to buy considering you're not going to get proper adhesion to truly insulate the pipe.
