Customer Questions & Answers

what kind of paint coating is used. Is it cheap or top quality?

Asked by: billybat
I do not care about the coating, this cart is exposed 24/7 to all the elements. I spray all parts that are metal, reel, screws, bolts, tubes, etc with white lithium grease. Decide what you want to do, I am not recommending anything, just telling you my experience.

I had same problem I called Precision Tool who make the hose reels. I actually went through 4 water intakes and tried to pack myself with Vaseline and there is no way to stop the water. I think the problem lies on the company who made the intake. It should be a feral attachment so it will roll with ease and not have a sharp edge on the thread end. It need to seat within itself. A fault the company needs to fix. Call Precision Tools and explain and they might send you a different one depending on when you purchased it. I am returning mine tomorrow for full refund. Oh Tethalone tape or pipe joint compound will not help either. I tried that myself. Call Precision Tools if you are still having the problem at 1-800-225-5891

250 ft. Hose Reel Cart is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a Waste of Money! Purchased in January 2015, after receiving a gift card for Christmas. Did not get to use it until Spring of this year. After two weeks use, the water coupling tube, which has a rubber gasket and a screw seal about half way down the tube, split apart and water started spraying everywhere. So I took it back to Home Depot to replace. Unfortunately, I was a week past the 90-day cut off for returns, so they would not take it back. So I called Precision Products, the manufacturer. After leaving a voicemail, I received no return call. Then I emailed them. It took weeks to get a response, and then all I received was a note saying that they would send a new water coupling assembly. Another two weeks passed and nothing, so I wrote back. That prompted me to get the new water coupling assembly. By now it is June of 2015... I replaced the water coupling myself, which took a lot of work because in order to replace it, you have to tear the unit apart and rebuild it from scratch. (What a pain!). Then I got about a months use out of the hose reel and viola! it split at the exact same spot on the new unit... Now all I want is my money back! This thing is a piece of P00P!, and Precision Products is doing a horrible job of customer service. Spend the extra dollars and buy a better unit. It's got to be better than this headache!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality. Not all parts included in packaging! Took about one month to get all the parts required to assemble hose reel! Rust is beginning to form after one month of use! Rust/corrosion is what did in my last hose reel after one year. Where's the quality control? Your customer service personnel were very helpful! Would like to know who is in charge of quality control. Thanks for listening.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better build quality than the last on The instruction booklet is one of the worst I've ever had to deal with. Once I assembled it I was pleased with how well it!s put together. I hand an earlier model that rusted away after two or three years. This one looks like it will las longer than that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Excellent quality, few extra screws, nuts and washers, but that happens often anymore with products you have to assemble. Assembly was easy, clearly outlined with the instructions provided. Definitely easy to use, as the large tires make it easy to navigate. The basket catches all those nozzles everyone uses. Only recommendation, something to hook a nozzle to after using, thus allowing it to stay on the cart and attached to the hose. Overall though, happy with the purchase, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a similar product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very sad workmanship Out of the box one of the tires was flat and would not inflate. I emailed Precision and they sent me a replacement tire, but the wrong kind. Directions were hard to read and poor graphics. Once I hooked it up it leaked real bad, even after replacing the rubber washers. If I could send it back I would..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional quality. This hose cart replaced a new all plastic model that claimed to hold 250 feet of hose, but was clearly going to break with the weight of 250 feet of high temperature rated rubber hose and was very hard to roll over even hard surfaces. New cart was very study and the large pneumatic tires make to easy to push over uneven ground. No missing parts and all parts lined up for easy assembly. Pained steel frame, so I wouldn't advise long term outdoor storage exposed to rain. Toss a tarp over it in this case. No leaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PAINFUL to assemble but worth the trouble Assembling this cart took me about 2 full hours because directions were awful and confusing. (Made in China, of course.) I had to do a lot of guesswork throughout, but finally got the whole cart together. Next step was to let it air outside overnight because the tires had a strong petro chemical odor. And finally, the tires were mostly deflated, so I had to pack it into my car and fill the tires with air at a local gas station. After all that trouble, the cart holds 200 feet of hose very well and is definitely more sturdy than those plastic hose carts. After I finish watering, I wind up the hose and store the cart in my garage. Bit of advice: WATCH and GUIDE the hose as you unwind and wind. If it slips off the reel while you are winding, you'll have a difficult mess and the reel will get stuck. My only wish for this cart is that it had swiveling wheels so I could navigate turns more easily. Other than that, it's worth it.
