Answer:
I do not care about the coating, this cart is exposed 24/7 to all the elements. I spray all parts that are metal, reel, screws, bolts, tubes, etc with white lithium grease. Decide what you want to do, I am not recommending anything, just telling you my experience.

Very Low Quality Paint. Mine showed rust in a matter of days. Its not a top quality bake powder coat.

Answer:
Looks like regular automotive-type paint, not powder coating. I don't leave it outside so I haven't had any issues with rust, so I don't know how durable the paint would be if left exposed to the elements.

I had same problem I called Precision Tool who make the hose reels. I actually went through 4 water intakes and tried to pack myself with Vaseline and there is no way to stop the water.

I think the problem lies on the company who made the intake. It should be a feral attachment so it will roll with ease and not have a sharp edge on the thread end. It need to seat within itself. A fault the company needs to fix. Call Precision Tools and explain and they might send you a different one depending on when you purchased it. I am returning mine tomorrow for full refund.
Oh Tethalone tape or pipe joint compound will not help either. I tried that myself.
Call Precision Tools if you are still having the problem at 1-800-225-5891

Answer:
I had the same problem, i ordered replacement washers from Amazon for $1.50 for 10 washers. This fixed the problem. That said i shouldnt have had to replace washers and tire tubes on a brand new product. You get what you pay for!

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 43 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality. Not all parts included in packaging! Took about one month to get all the parts required to assemble hose reel! Rust is beginning to form after one month of use! Rust/corrosion is what did in my last hose reel after one year. Where's the quality control? Your customer service personnel were very helpful! Would like to know who is in charge of quality control. Thanks for listening. July 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product Excellent quality, few extra screws, nuts and washers, but that happens often anymore with products you have to assemble. Assembly was easy, clearly outlined with the instructions provided. Definitely easy to use, as the large tires make it easy to navigate. The basket catches all those nozzles everyone uses. Only recommendation, something to hook a nozzle to after using, thus allowing it to stay on the cart and attached to the hose. Overall though, happy with the purchase, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a similar product. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better build quality than the last on The instruction booklet is one of the worst I've ever had to deal with. Once I assembled it I was pleased with how well it!s put together. I hand an earlier model that rusted away after two or three years. This one looks like it will las longer than that. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Oh so easy ! Easy on my back, air tires flow easily....to reel the hose in... is super easy ...do to large wheel, easy handle, there nothing I can say ..bad about the hose reel cart !! May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional quality. This hose cart replaced a new all plastic model that claimed to hold 250 feet of hose, but was clearly going to break with the weight of 250 feet of high temperature rated rubber hose and was very hard to roll over even hard surfaces. New cart was very study and the large pneumatic tires make to easy to push over uneven ground. No missing parts and all parts lined up for easy assembly. Pained steel frame, so I wouldn't advise long term outdoor storage exposed to rain. Toss a tarp over it in this case. No leaks. May 22, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rusts This started rusting about a month after I go it. An outdoor hose real that rusts?!?! Also, if you have to put it together like I did, the connection of the hose to the cart is not easy. The threaded hose connection needs to be bent a little further so you can easily connect the hose. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 11/22/2015 I purchase this item 1 1/2 years ago after many plastic hose carts. I didn't have too much difficulty putting it together. (I'm a 69 year old woman) I haven't had any problems yet. I like it so much I am getting one for my son for Christmas. Well worth the price. The reason I gave it a 4 you have to inflate the tires. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What a Waste of Money! Purchased in January 2015, after receiving a gift card for Christmas. Did not get to use it until Spring of this year. After two weeks use, the water coupling tube, which has a rubber gasket and a screw seal about half way down the tube, split apart and water started spraying everywhere. So I took it back to Home Depot to replace. Unfortunately, I was a week past the 90-day cut off for returns, so they would not take it back. So I called Precision Products, the manufacturer. After leaving a voicemail, I received no return call. Then I emailed them. It took weeks to get a response, and then all I received was a note saying that they would send a new water coupling assembly. Another two weeks passed and nothing, so I wrote back. That prompted me to get the new water coupling assembly. By now it is June of 2015... I replaced the water coupling myself, which took a lot of work because in order to replace it, you have to tear the unit apart and rebuild it from scratch. (What a pain!). Then I got about a months use out of the hose reel and viola! it split at the exact same spot on the new unit... Now all I want is my money back! This thing is a piece of P00P!, and Precision Products is doing a horrible job of customer service. Spend the extra dollars and buy a better unit. It's got to be better than this headache!
