can i use this product in the garden

can i use this product in the garden, corn tomates
Asked by: trica
It can used around most established vegetables listed on container. Tomatoes is listed as safe, but I'd contact maker of Preen about Corn or any other non-listed vegetables to be safe.

Will it kill grass

is preen safe around grass....I want to sprinkle whole yard to kill dandilions
Asked by: Lakeshia
It won't kill grass, but it won't kill Dandelions either. it's a per-emergence & there are much better products to use in the lawn areas for your purposes. Any crab grass pre-emergance will work to help prevent Dandelions from sprouting, Once sprouted I use a lawn weed killer liquid spray VS granular.

will this kill already-sprouted maple tree seedlings in beds?

we have so many this year and short of pulling them by hand, we are not sure what to do. we were hoping to find something sprinkle / scatter over so we can just kill them and not any nearby plantings.
Asked by: littlemissdelight
Unfortunately, no it will not. I wish it would but it won't. There is no product out there that will do what you want to do that I know of & I've been a professional landscaper for over 40 years. All you can do is let them grow tall enough, so that they can be identified & then pull each & everyone out by hand.

It was actually 16 lbs. s 17 lbs in previous package. Not so bad, but the coverage of old package was around 4500 sq ft. The new only around 2600---less than 2/3 coverage of the old. Not good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Preen Weed Preventer This year I performed an experiment and did not use Preen on my hardscape. All season I was spraying and picking weeds. Next season, it's Preen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute must in all landscaped areas, vegetable beds & even where gravel is If you don't use Preen, your just wasting your time dealing with weeds in unprotected landscaped areas. I've been a professional landscaper for over 40 years & use Preen on all my landscaping projects. I also strongly recommend to all my customers that they maintain protective barrier w/ follow up applications. I apply it on a monthly basis during the growing season even thou they claim it's effective up to 3 months. Beauty of Preen is you really can't over apply it, but can under apply it & they make it with fertilizer as well. Safe to use basically anywhere in landscaped & vegetable beds where you don't have seeds planted. If seeds have come up already & plants are established use won't effect them. While it won't kill existing weeds, I have found it to be effective against majority of weeds. Preen pays for it's self taking into account value of ones time while also keeping beds looking good. In winter time I put down a heavy application, because can't be applied over snow covered ground. Cold weather weeds are so much hardier than warm weather weeds tend to be as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked beautifully in the flower beds My husband Dan and I are Master Gardeners. We were having a garden tour on July 17th of this year. So this spring, after I weeded, I sprinkled Preen around. I did not have to do any weeding in the flower beds. It stopped all seeds from germinating. My husband just cut down all the flowers and I thought I would do some weeding-there were only a couple of them. I certainly will buy more Preen in the spring. I recommend this to everyone. Last year I used this product on a section of our lawn that had an annual weed popping up in it. It also got rid of that pest. We will be using it next spring in a Pocket Park that us Master Gardeners maintain. PS Moat of my pictures of too big to download.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure if working or not.. Applied this kind of late in the season, so if it doesn't stop all of my weeds from sprouting I'm OK with that. But what I was curious about is the fact that these granules have not dissipated into the mulch beds yet. It has rained A TON here and I still see them in the mulch beds.
