I buy Preen in the 16 pound container for my 1/2 acre property. I use these small containers to apply it. I add organic plant food to the areas that are 'filled in' and have a separate container for the hillsides where I have bushes spaced apart. Those areas, I Preen everything and feed the plants separately. My experience is Preen helps reduce weeds but does not eliminate them. You must weed the area first, this will not kill existing weeds, only help prevent new ones. Effective for about 3 months.

Easy to use disperser integrated in the lid. Did not use at the beginning of the season and I regretted it. It may not prevent every weed from poking up, but it definitely prevents most of them. Saves hours in weeding.

I purchased Preen to keep grass from spreading to my gardens. Many Southern yards are St. Augustine which sends out runners that get thru, over and under every border I've tried. Must remove grass and weeds first, then applied as directed; have not had to pull grass or weeds again. I turned the soil a bit, applied Preen, then a layer of newspaper and mulch, weed free so far. I did reapply per directions just to keep up the weed-free zone. Loving it, so much easier to sprinkle and water in than pulling grass and weeds!

This is worth every penny! It does not take away any weeds that you have already, put if you hand pick those and get rid of them, then sprinkle this all around there will be no weeds for months! AWESOME!!!!

This product works really well. I have rock landscape in the front yard and around the perimeter in back. I shake this around and water it in and the time I spend pulling/spraying weeds is minimal.

My aging body is so grateful for Preen. A quick application prevents hours of back-breaking, knee aching weeding as I found out a few years ago. Preen was introduced to me by my Sister-in-Law and I've been a fan ever since. I am thrilled to see that Preen has tailored their weed preventer to the different regions in the US.
I lay down the first application in early spring, another at the start of summer and the final application goes on in early fall. I would estimate that my weeding time has been reduced by 75%; in my opinion, Preen is worth every cent.
Aside from Preen working incredibly well, the application of Preen takes just minutes thanks to the built in applicator spout (no spreaders needed). I've included a photo of the innovative spout so you can see it in action. Once the spout is open and the Preen starts flowing, simple move the bottle back and forth, applying a generous coat (about 10-12 granules per size of a US Quarter). Try to avoid applying to plant roots or it could damage or kill the plants you are trying to protect. Water in the Preen directly after the application. That is it!
I will caution you that Preen creates a protective top layer in the soil which prevents seeds from growing into weeds for up to three months. Unfortunately, Preen will mistake your plant seeds for weed seeds so do not apply to seeded gardens until your plants become established. Because Preen creates a protective top layer in your soil, disturbing the Preened soil may allow weeds to grow in the disturbed area. Note, there are a few vegetable seeds that will grow in Preened soil so if in doubt, refer to the directions or Preen's website before you apply this product. Preen will not kill existing weeds, you must remove the existing weeds, then Preen for a weed-free experience.
I highly recommend Preen and will continue to use this product for years down the road.
