The Chamberlain 1/2hp garage door opener improves on the technology of the keyless entry system since it can learn an opening code for both a limited amount of times it will respond to that code, or be set to recognize one as long as you want it.
The bar that connects the motor to the door is also much stronger than other models I've had. No wobbling chain or buckling of the bar.
It also has a feature that allows you to adjust how high the door goes when opening, and when to stop on closing.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by kailenq No problems, works like a charm.
Installed 2 of these myself, simple enough to do. They work great. Stay away from using a staple gun, can cause shorts in the system. These are pretty quiet and I love the keypads to operate the openers as well. All was easy to install, instructions were easy to follow.
First one took about 4-5 hours, 2 took <2 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by coolcaragain A great Murphy's Law purchase - very pleased with all aspects of this opener.
Great overall purchase. After having our car sit in the hot sun for 5 months due to a cluttered garage -- we finally took a day to get the garage re-organized and our car back into it.....just to have the garage door opener break the very next day. Installation was easy enough and was done in a little over 3 hours...given the 'to be expected' minor adjustments needed when retrofitting a new opener. We had to make some adjustments to the existing mounting brackets in order to accommodate the new opener -- but everything we needed to make this work was included in the box. We were also pleased that we did not need to redo/replace the existing electric eyes and could use the ones already in place as they integrated perfectly with the new opener....saved some time.
Overall the new opener - even though it is a chain drive - is quieter than our old opener. We also like that it has two light bulbs to help with overall garage lighting. The external opener was easy to install and program and we liked that the two in car openers were already programmed to work with the door. We haven't utilized the MYQ technology so we can not comment on this feature. Again - very easy installation overall - with great performance. Good purchase...and our car was back in the garage by the end of the day.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by anon nice product very functional
I bought this because the one I had was 50 years old no safeties. I did a lot of research and this seemed to be a good choice. Nothing from the old one matched the new one so I started from scratch. It took me about 3 hours to install. No problems, instructions easy to read. Everything functioning. The outside keypad is a good idea. You'll like this opener.

I have never replaced a garage door opener. It was a bad idea to tackle this solo. This unit had a different header bracket compared to my old chamberlain. I had to replace that. I, stupidly, thought it would be level with the mounting bracket for the motor. It was off by a good 4". I still can't figure out why. No problem. I used a hacksaw to cut the motor bracket 3" and moved the header bracket down 1". Instead of picking it up and taking it down, I attached chain between the motor (the furthest back hole) and the bracket attached to the ceiling and rested the track on the tension spring above the door. Be careful if you do this. Bumping into it could cause the track to fall. I replaced the sensors and control unit. All work time, removal of old unit until outside keypad installed and programed, took 8-9 hours. Would have been faster if I didn't have to lower the motor down, cut the bracket, and lower the header bracket. Very quiet unit for a chain drive. I also purchased Clopay Garage Door Pro Lube (found near the garage door openers) and sprayed every joint and bearing. My garage door is amazingly quiet. Really happy with my work, but not easy. I recommend a friend, 2 ladders, experiance, or a combination of all 3.
