Customer Reviews

30 in. Under Cabinet Range Hood in Stainless Steel is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sharp stainless steel hood with decent power and nice lights-excellent value. Finally replaced the cheap noisy exhaust hood that came with my home with this inexpensive but good looking hood. The hood looks great and provides very good suction to draw out air-I stir fry regularly. It also provides nice lighting. It's fairly quiet with a little noise generated from the damper-if I could silence the damper chatter I would be extreme satisfied. Initially, I was reluctant to purchase this due the price and the lack of a common "name" brand of it. I took a close look at it in the store since the sale clerk had no problem with me unboxing and examining it. I was impressed with the quality and appearance for the under $100 price. (I've been looking for hoods in the $350-$900 price range.) Availability of the reusable proprietary fitting washable filter is a little concering-given that its a "special buy" and it doesn't appear that Home Depot stocks the replacement filter. It is available from the company according to the owner's manual-via 800 number. In conclusion, I'm happy with the purchase since it was a great price. The only feature it lack is grease catch reservoir-a feature only found on really expensive hoods. Buy one before it's gone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great with a lil' tweak I've been a professional chef for over 15 years so I was looking for a commercial looking hood with good suction but worked with my budget. Agreed with many reviews above. Stumbled on this pre-black friday deal at $98. Didn't want to go any lower than 300 CFM and this fit the bill. Very nice looking slight "industrial" look this has. I was also able to pick it up and look at the display in store and the gauge of stainless steel is very nice. Not flimsy at all. It's exactly what I was looking for. I wired it and turned it on to test and it functioned great except for the very loud rattling damper. It's a very cheaply constructed aluminum piece held by a hinge. It's the oversized axis that makes the rattling. I solved this by bending the aluminum tab that is located behind the damper. This tab is designed to restrict the damper from opening too far. With a little bending, I restricted the damper from opening 100% (now it's more like 80%) but it still has the same noticeable suction but with absolutely NO RATTLING. I now have a completely stealth silent hood that looks great. Can't wait to caramelize 10# of onions for some french onion soup under this hood!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleased with product Purchased this hood to replace a 30 y.o. Broan. The quality of the product is very good. The unit has a solid feel and an attractive design, especially for the price. Install was very easy, and I am pleased with the operation. The fan is a bit louder than some of the higher priced models, but it also moves much more air (300 cfm) than the others, which is the goal here. I'd rather hear a bit more air exhausting and have the product do its job rather than it be quiet and useless. Was exceptionally pleased when I found it on sale after the initial purchase and Home Depot refunded me the difference (50%). Grab one while they are available!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Hood for the Money Like a review above I was looking at much more expensive hoods ($250-$350) and happened to stumble upon this one. I was replacing one that was probably close to 20 years old. Don't expect this to be super quiet but it has a lot of power and that's what I wanted. I'm venting it inside so didn't get to use all the other venting options but its nice to have in the future. As one other reviewer commented, it does stick out further than others but that's because the vent for the inside is on the top of the hood. I'll attach and image of what it looks like. I actually like it where it is because it now pushes the air out in to the room instead of back on to the cabinets. Installation was a breeze (mostly because I didn't have to vent outside). Overall, I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One of the good looking bad products The product looks very nice, but I found two major issues, on account of which I do not recommend this product: 1. The switch is very bad. I installed the product after testing the switches. When I turned on the fan by pushing a button, the switch got stuck and I could not change fan speed or turn the fan off. I tried the light switch, often the light would come on when I hold the switch down and go off when I let go. 2. When the fan is turned I can feel the vibration when I touch the hood body, when fan speed is high. This is not a mounting issue. I verified that I had all the four screws tightened to hold the hood firmly in place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hood's deeper than the standard hood. The standard wall cabinet and range hood depth is 12". This one is 14". Just be aware that it will stick out farther than your wall cabinet above.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good deal for the price Just installed this unit today and it works great, though it's not very quiet. I vented ours through the roof so it pulls the steam and smoke away from the stove and out of the house nicely. The build quality is really good and blows away the "name brand" entry level units that cost $50 more than this. I can't find anything on the unit that I'd expect to fail anytime soon. Now for the bad news: it's not very quiet. I'd guess its on par with the above mentioned entry level units that cost more so it's not really a deal breaker, especially at this price. I was looking at mid range models as well ($300-600) when I stumbled upon this unit and decided to take a gamble, and while the construction is top notch, what you get for the extra $400 on the higher end models is almost silent operation. The included damper can rattle but I ended up removing it since we have one on our roof vent. High end quiet models apparently are about as loud as a fridge while this hood is closer to a running microwave, though not really unpleasantly loud. Will see how it holds up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good unit for the money I had reservations about this unit since it wasn't a "name" brand but I am impressed with it so far. The fan motor is fairly quiet thru out the three speeds and the (2) LED lights are sufficient but not overly bright. The installation was easy but I did have to take the motor cover off due remove a small screw that was rolling around. The stainless quality seems very good but I would recommend a good metal polishing after installation to remove the "dirt"
