Answer:
If you don't have power above the stove for a fan you will need to run some 12-2 rolmax .
Note where the wire will connect to the fan and leave 6" or so hanging out from the spot where the wires exit the wall.

Yes, it comes with the ability to filter and vent outside or filter the air and return it inside or just don't push the fan button on. It does MOVE THE AIR, BUT, I wish there was a bigger difference in the speeds, can hardly tell the difference.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 73 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by One of the good looking bad products The product looks very nice, but I found two major issues, on account of which I do not recommend this product: 1. The switch is very bad. I installed the product after testing the switches. When I turned on the fan by pushing a button, the switch got stuck and I could not change fan speed or turn the fan off. I tried the light switch, often the light would come on when I hold the switch down and go off when I let go. 2. When the fan is turned I can feel the vibration when I touch the hood body, when fan speed is high. This is not a mounting issue. I verified that I had all the four screws tightened to hold the hood firmly in place. May 1, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by you get what you pay for Bought at HD for $118 pre-black Friday deal. Cut hole in wall, headed up and replaced recirculating hood in 1980 built house kitchen with standard 30" under cabinet hood so that the wife could enjoy a new external venting hood while cooking Thanksgiving dinner in our new house. The mounting holes did not exactly line up, and had to add shim fill boards to bottom of cabinet recess. LED lights are nice & bright and energy efficient. The fan is sufficiently powerful to vent very well to the outside, however, the wife does not like the hood because the fan is too loud--even on the LOWEST speed setting. This is very disappointing because the product is advertised as QUIET. The range hood is a good value for the $, but I will probably return it, and be out some lost time removing & replacing the unit with a quieter hood, because if the wife ain't happy, well...ain't nobody happy. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hood good but some issues Packaging we received did not include User Manuel in English. Customer service from manufacturer was fruitless. After applying technical skills managed to find and download the English manual. Light bulbs are difficult to remove as they are tightly flush inplace. Turn counter clockwise to remove. Place cloth on surface below once loosened, the bulbs drop out quickly. (I shattered one doing this.) The filter release is also tricky. Recommend with caution. April 8, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor switch attachment. Very difficult to remove LED lights After 4 months, entire switch compartment pushed inside of hood where all switches became inaccessible. Factory sent replacement control switch. Old one was removed and examined. It appears, that either the attachment screws were either overtightened or switch was made of cheap plastic. The LED lights are very difficult to access, let alone to remove, as this, I was told, is not a screw type of fixture. The minimum fan speed fan is high, and there is not much difference in the different fan speeds. Lights cause stainless hood to become very hot in LED fixture vicinity. January 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hood for the Money Like a review above I was looking at much more expensive hoods ($250-$350) and happened to stumble upon this one. I was replacing one that was probably close to 20 years old. Don't expect this to be super quiet but it has a lot of power and that's what I wanted. I'm venting it inside so didn't get to use all the other venting options but its nice to have in the future. As one other reviewer commented, it does stick out further than others but that's because the vent for the inside is on the top of the hood. I'll attach and image of what it looks like. I actually like it where it is because it now pushes the air out in to the room instead of back on to the cabinets. Installation was a breeze (mostly because I didn't have to vent outside). Overall, I would buy again in a heartbeat. November 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Actual unsolicited Review This hood was inexpensive compared to comparable looking units. It's pretty much useless. If you vent to outside or inside. It's suction is so loud and barely pulls steam off from back burners and nothing from the fronts. The light is stellar. It's so great it heats up the metal so you can burn your finger tips as you try to hit the tiney button to shut it off. I tried to like this unit but its exactly what you pay for. Do not believe the reviews where they claim its like a 350 to 450$ unit. If you vent inside, the blower literally aims right at your face and since the charcoal filter they provide isn't large enough to fully cover the inlet you will get whatever it did manage to suck up blown right into your forehead. Don't buy it. Put aside 50 bucks a month for 6 months and buy a real hood. December 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sharp stainless steel hood with decent power and nice lights-excellent value. Finally replaced the cheap noisy exhaust hood that came with my home with this inexpensive but good looking hood. The hood looks great and provides very good suction to draw out air-I stir fry regularly. It also provides nice lighting. It's fairly quiet with a little noise generated from the damper-if I could silence the damper chatter I would be extreme satisfied. Initially, I was reluctant to purchase this due the price and the lack of a common "name" brand of it. I took a close look at it in the store since the sale clerk had no problem with me unboxing and examining it. I was impressed with the quality and appearance for the under $100 price. (I've been looking for hoods in the $350-$900 price range.) Availability of the reusable proprietary fitting washable filter is a little concering-given that its a "special buy" and it doesn't appear that Home Depot stocks the replacement filter. It is available from the company according to the owner's manual-via 800 number. In conclusion, I'm happy with the purchase since it was a great price. The only feature it lack is grease catch reservoir-a feature only found on really expensive hoods. Buy one before it's gone. November 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice for the price This hood looks like a million bucks and it was really easy to install according to my contractor ( so easy that they didn't charge me to do it). Lights are really nice and the only negative is the loud noise it makes when it's on. We laugh that it must be very powerful, but I think it's just loud. I don't mind it though for the price.
