Which shower trim kit?

I am using model r110ss valve & it comes with a plaster guard. The guard isn't shown in the picture when I ordered the valve. When installing a prefab shower , must the guard be used & must I use a American Standard trim kit & handle? With the guard in place, the plumber said my Kohler trim kit won't work & & i would have to use one made by American Standard that is designated for that valve. Need some answers so I can move forward!
Asked by: jake
You will want to use the guard if you have a thin wall. The plumber is correct that Kohler products will not work with our rough in valves.

Customer Reviews

Pressure Balance Rough Valve Body with Screwdriver Stops is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent valve with built-in shut-offs I paid a plumber to install these, but after seeing how he went about it, I could have done it. The valve body removes easily so that you can solder the connections. It is just as easily reassembled. It takes maybe a minute to get the valve body out and back in. The hot water flow rate is well-marked and easily set. The screw shut-offs can be accessed easily by removing the kit faceplate so that you can work on the valve without having to shut-off water to the whole house.
