Specs say max working temp is 70 is that all?
Asked by: Ad
We would not recommend going beyond 112 degrees. If you go beyond 120 scalding can occur quickly.

Installed a new one , in a remodeled bathroom, cold on right, hot on left , new valve is facing up correctly

But hot comes on first, double check every thing and it's all correct, what to do
Asked by: Hotcold
The rough in valve was either installed wrong or somewhere within installation your water lines were reversed.

I turned knob all the way to left for hot water but the water comes out warm. Is there a way to controll water temp

Asked by: Peay
It sounds like the water may not be mixing properly. You may need a new pressure balancing unit.

This Picture Appears Wrong - Are the Inlets threaded?

From the American Standard Website (attached) and the description, this is a threaded-inlet valve, but the picture shows some sort of sweated inlet. Which is it?
Asked by: roman56
The inlets/outlets are threaded, as specified on the spec sheet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works almost too well Okay...we built our home in 2010. It's wonderful and we have all American Standard faucets, shower, toilet etc. The real complaint is that our downstairs shower valve (anti-scald) keeps "popping". Meaning the water is coming out hot and then it "pops" not allowing you to continue to turn the water to hot. It's like there is a brick wall in the handle. The first time it did it (two winters ago), we replaced the valve - no big deal and we went on with life. The next year, it "popped" again and we replaced it. Again, not a big deal thinking it's keeping us safe. However, it has now done it for a third time and third year in a row. Now we have to replace it again. It's getting expensive. The upstairs shower has the exact same head/hardware/valves and we've never had a problem. So although the anti-scald thing is great, for some reason it overdoes it's job on our downstairs shower. Yes, I still recommend it for the safety feature but this is the last time I'm replacing it. It does it again and I'll get something completely different.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple drop in replacement Simple drop in replacement for my older AS valve body that had developed pitting / corrosion on the o-rings seats. Overall good value in dual control (temp / volume). Since I am not a plumber I opted for the the threaded valve body - that way if I botched sweating a joint none of my mistakes were soldered to the expensive parts. I removed the plastic parts for sweating pipes and had to re-seat the parts a few times to get drip free operation but now it works great. My existing AS trim plate did not fit (screw alignment is different) so I ordered an inexpensive Colony handle set to complete the installation. Had I known this I probably would have purchased the whole thing (valve and trim) as a set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of use This is the only valve that gives you volume control and temperature control in a single lever valve. It is unbeatable for the price.
