can I use these in ground if they are sunk in post cement surrounding the sides as well as the bottom and have no contact with dirt? ?

Asked by: gary
a very debated topic but most say do not concrete the bottom locking in moisture. use 3 inches of gravel set post then add a few more inches of gravel then concrete. concrete above grade and taper running water away from post.

How much do these weigh?

I have used these extensively. The weight varies quite a bit. The lightest I remember was a little less than 35 lbs. The heaviest was 45.5 lbs.

Will the color run off clothes

Asked by: Rascal01
The pressure treated product will not run off onto clothes. This is not an appearance product, it is designed to be used in outdoor project such as Fence Posts, Deck Substructures and other outdoor landscape projects.

Customer Reviews

Pressure-Treated Timber HF Brown Stain (Common: 4 in. x 6 in. x 8 ft.; Actual: 3.56 in. x 5.63 in. x 96 in.) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read the specifications: not for in-ground use! All of this type of PT lumber HD carries is for ground-contact use *only*. They haven't sold in-ground PT lumber in the stores here in years. Do not build your fence posts, deck footings, etc with this stuff. For it's actual purpose: ground contact and above ground outdoor use it's fine. But if you put it in the ground you'll be replacing it in a few years. You'll probably have to special order in-ground-rated PT lumber because it's getting harder and harder to find out hrre in California.
