The Preval Sprayer was a great buy. It was super fast and easy to use once I figured out how to dilute the pant. I've sprayed acrylics and latex paints with it â even glitter paint. The best ratio I've found is 1 ounce of paint to 2 ounces of water. Just be sure to clean the aerosol can and dipstick after use. I remove the dipstick and run water through the bottom of the sprayer until the water runs clear. I also spray it a few times to make sure there's no paint left in the nozzle. All in all, this product is easy to use, and it's one home improvement tool of mine that gets a lot of use.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by bill Use the right tool for the job
Once again, a fine tool is given poor ratings by those expecting it to do a job it was not designed to do. Latex paint needs to be pumped through a gun. It can be thinned and and siphon-atomized with a gun that can supply a large air stream, but even that usually delivers poor results.
This sprayer works very well with lacquer, polyurethane, auto finishes, and other solvent based paints. Water has a higher viscosity than paint solvents. Adding solute to it only makes it thicker.
Expecting this little sprayer to siphon latex even when thinned is unreasonable. Not understanding the properties of the materials you are using, and getting angry at a tool that is being used for the correct purpose is even more unreasonable.

I have used for enamel thinned with mineral spirits and works very well. I have used with latex thinned with water and works poorly.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by LAughCat Great finish!!!
I was looking for something easy to use. Previous paint sprayers clogged and just stopped working. Probably beacause latex paint is impossible to thin. Using an oil based paint, randomly thinned with turpentine, it worked like a charm. The finish was exactly what I was looking to achieve. The directions are pretty simple. I wish it came in a larger size.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by slowhand Great Product
This product works great for what it is. I had a tiny 1 foot square dent that I fixed on my jeep and did not want to set up a spray booth and get the big gun out and make a mess everywhere. This was perfect for the job. I had to do it twice, as the first time I thinned it too much and the color did not exactly match. But with some patience and the right mix, this was great. I am using single stage which they say cannot be used with this sprayer, but I made sure to spray so lacquer thinner through it between coats. It worked fine. Now I have an $80 quart of base coat that I don't need.
My advice is try it. It is not a rattle can, so don't use it like one. Practice on some plywood or cardboard for several coats first. If the mix is not right, that is on you, not the sprayer. If you can't get it to lay a good coat without runs, again, that's on you, not the sprayer. If you don't have the aptitude, and some critical thinking skills, maybe this is not right for you. Have a professional do it then.
I'm sure there could be some defective ones out there, but that is life. Get another one. $3 for pete sake. I'm glad I tried it before I read the negative reviews. For the most part, they all seem like operator error to me, but I could be wrong. Maybe the 10 I purchased were the only good ones out there. Hee Hee....
Just try, and if it does not work for you, throw it away.
