I bought this to spray paint some light switch and outlet covers to match our new wall paint. I had the latex paint mixed at Home Depot and I followed the thinning procedure (3:1) paint to water. I filled the bottle, pulled the trigger...and nothing came out, not even air. I followed the procedure for clearing a clog, thinned the paint some more (3:2) and tried again. Still nothing. I kept clearing the clog and thinning the paint until a little paint started coming out of the nozzle but it was so thin by that time that it was just running off the covers. Total waste of time, effort, and money.

I used this spray system when refinishing my kitchen cabinets. I had 3 different layers: a toner, then a stain, then polyurethane sanding-sealer. It worked really well. I rubbed on a glaze after that and finished with a polyurethane finisher that I brushed on only because I was tired of the ventilation problem in my kitchen! Overall, the product really surprised me how well it worked. For the 3 layers, I went through about 6 spray cans total for all my kitchen cabinets (just the boxes, not the doors or drawer fronts).

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BlueDevil Terrible! Does not work at all!
I was hesitant to buy this due to the spectrum of reviews scores from 5 stars to 1 star. However, the price was right, so I decided to give it a try. The reviews stating that the unit won't spray paint even when the paint in thinned are 100% correct. This product is terrible. I bought it to paint our child's crib white. I followed the directions exactly. Thinned the paint according to the type of paint (latex, enamel, etc). I had enamel, so it said to use mineral spirits for this type of paint and that the thinning mixture was a ratio of 4 to 1. Here's the first problem -- 4 parts of which and 1 part of which? Its doesn't say. So I erred on the cautious side and did 4 parts paint to 1 part mineral spirits. I also removed the filter/strainer from the dipstick tube as it said to do with thicker paints. I held the can at a 45 degree angle as it said to do, and it didn't spray one single droplet of paint. Too thick, I thought. So maybe it was a reverse ratio of 4 parts mineral spirits and one part paint. I cleared/cleaned out the unit and remixed at the revised ratio. Still nothing. Not one single droplet of paint came out this time either, only the compressed gas from the canister came out. This product does not work at all. Even though the cost is low, the unit does not work. Save your money, mess, time, and patience and either paint with a bursh, can of regular spray paint, buy a regular sprayer, or rent a regular sprayer from a The Home Depot that has tool rental (not all do).

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PK Wouldn't spray paint evenly
Bought this to spray some paint. The paint barely came out and when it did it was in clumps. The directions said the thin as nessecary but paint was already as thin as it should have needed to be. Might be ok with a very thin material?

Spray paints are very limited. I love the Preval Sprayer because I can spray the exact match. Be sure to read the instructions carefully and you'll have no problems only excellent results.
