This sectional door extension spring has double loop ends for extra durability. It can replace most all spring configurations on residential doors that are no higher than 7 feet. Includes a 1/8 in. galvanized carbon steel aircraft cable that is installed through springs to prevent injury in case of breakage. 2 springs will lift a door weighing 110 pounds.

To measure the weight of the door: unhook the springs, lower the door and rest it on a scale for the door weight. If the door weighs 100 pounds then I replace the springs with two 100 pound springs, one for each side correct?

If your door weighs 100 pounds, then you would need to purchase and install two (2) 100 pound springs. Here is a suggested method for weighing your garage door: Garage door may be weighed by using a bathroom scale, as long as the door weighs less than 300 pounds. Open door to it's full open position. Block both bottom rollers in the track with two "C" clamps or locking pliers. Release spring tension by disconnecting cable at overhead support bar on both sides. Remove the "C" clamps (or pliers) and allow door to lower onto the scale. Heavy doors may require two people to lower. (EXAMPLE: a 150 pound door needs two (2) 150 pound springs; one on each side.)
