Customer Questions & Answers

can this srping handle a 10 x10 door

will II need to replace both springs, how many turns on the preload require
Asked by: jobone
This is not the type of spring with preload, "Extension" springs (old style) are meant to be strung crosswise to the door. I believe you are talking about "Torsional" springs that fit close to the wall, just above a closed door. You have to weigh the door. Use vise grips or C-clamps to hold the cables tight to the brackets that hold the tracks and raise it with a pry-bar and some 2x4s onto a analog bathroom scale.

Will this 120 lb spring set handle a 7' x 8' wooden door or a vinyl door?

Asked by: rogmid
My door is 7x9 wood and weighs 120 lbs. If you clamp the cables to the door tracks and use some pry bars and 2x4s you can lift it up onto a bathroom scale. Then you will know for sure what it weighs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation Very easy to install. The only complaint I have, is that a template was supplied to locate the holes in the wall to hold the mounting strip, and another to locate the holes in the cabinet above, to hold the microwave up. The instructions said to trim 1/16 of an inch off the templates, all the way around, on a dotted line. Why not just provide a template that doesn't need trimmed???
