Customer Questions & Answers

Are these particular locks suitable for double hung windows?

We have 6 new aluminium framed double hung windows which we want to be able to secure so they will not open from the outside beyond a pre-set point. All the windows have security screens fitted plus our home has a back-to-base alarm system. Would this type of lock be suitable and would they offer sufficient 'final point' security for the windows?

Aluminum Sliding Window Lock with Single Hex Screw is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did their job I bought about 20 of these to secure my fathers home after he passed. House was recently broken into, they had to break out the window to get in which they did, however they were using a pry bar and the windows barely budge. If I would have installed them directly above the lower window in stead of smudging a quarter inch or so the windows wouldnt have moved at all. I plan on buying more and putting them on both sides of each window. And replacing the glass with plexiglass. No sense in making it easy for them. As soon as they got in the alarm scared them off, but they had to work for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent inexpensive tamper resistant sliding window lock Easy to use tamper resistant lock for sliding windows. Works on sliding glass doors or any sliding opening with a track to which the lock can attach. I used locks both on upper and lower tracks for added security. Effective, inexpensive solution.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No thumb screws You have to use a hex wrench (provided). No room to turn hex wrench causes you to have to turn it half way at a time. When you are done, if you lose the wrench, you can't adjust it. I like the thumb screw ones better. Thumb screw ones were not offered on-line. But they are in store.
