Would this door handle fit on our door? My brother lives in the basement and he is handicapped. His room is down there. He is in a wheel chair. The old handle is off and we have a hard time opening the door. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep the door from getting stuck in cold weather. The sliding glass door is his only way out. We cannot afford another door at this time.

As for the door getting stuck in cold weather, the only thing that comes to mind is perhaps the steel wheels are freezing up or have corrosion that may be binding them more during the cold weather seasons. If this is the case, you might consider replacing the roller assemblies with nylon wheels or stainless steel roller assemblies.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible design that doesn't accommodate different doors The screw receptacles are too short and don't accommodate many screw sizes. The receiving latch is too shallow and I need to find special screws and washers/spacers to raise it away from the door. Overall, this gives you very little to work with. I'm about to make my 4th trip to the hardware store to try and find the right hardware to make this work. January 25, 2015
