Customer Questions & Answers

Is this lock reversible (from right to left)

using Prime Line's definition, my door latch is on the left and door pulls open sliding to the right. 1. Can I install the pin on the left jamb and the latch on the door? 2. Does this unit come with spacer blocks (as seen in descriptions of the other Prime Line locks)
Asked by: Chris
YES!! It is reversible from right to left. I just completed the installation on a left hand sliding patio door. No difference on the next one which was a right hand door. VERY EASY INSTALLATION. GREAT LOCK!!!

Would these work on non siding patio doors, ours open inward?

I thought these might work to keep the little one in the house who knows how to unlock the door otherwise. If it wouldn't any suggestions for something that might?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes with the exception it would not be a LOCK!! It could only be used to defeat a toddler from possibly opening the door. Suggestion: Instead use the lock system found on hotel / motel doors. Totally prevents door from opening when the hasp is engaged over the pin / knob.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple; effective; Easy to install These are worth every penny. Very quick and easy to install, but provides solid security, and because it is right at a convenient place with easy access, you will use it. No more having to bend and fuss with bars in the tracks anymore. This is great, and I can't recommend it enough. Note: because I have thin metal frames, I was only able to put two of the available 4 screws into the frame for the latch...but that is plenty strong enough. All 4 screws easily go into the catch on the door, without any problems at all. I have put up 3 of these and they give great peace of mind. It took me less than 30 minutes to install all 3. Just drill the pilot hole; put in a screw to hold the part in place; now you have a template to drill and install the remaining screws. Always put the "J" hook side on the frame first; then have it inserted in the latch-part as you screw it into the sliding door. It is that easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap and effective solution for securing a sliding patio door! This is a very cheap and effective device for ensuring that a sliding patio door cannot be taken off its track by would-be burglars. Opening and closing the device is very simple. Be careful, however, that the two main parts of the device are perfectly aligned during installation. Otherwise, it may be difficult to open and close.
