I had to replace another one and was happy to find an exact match in this one via some online research. Home Depot was only outlet that carried it. It allowed replacing just the door deadbolt mechanism and not the inset piece on the jamb. Saved lots of time. Only trouble was that while "brass" was supposed to be in stock, when I arrived, there was only nickel finish available.

Good product for a basement door or shed which is easy to install for someone who has some carpentry skills. I have used this lock for many years. Just a reminder, this lock is legal when the house inspector comes by; double locks (those on the outside and inside) are considered a fire hazard for quick exit.

I bought one of these in the store the other day. I chose it on price compared to the almost identical looking $49 version. I fitted it to the door and the lock started jamming after two or three engagements of the key and/or knob. I thought something was out of adjustment, but it just kept jamming, rendering it useless. I've read other reviews from buyers who have encountered the same problem with this lock.
I returned it to the store and bought the more expensive version of this lock. The new lock bolted right up to the same holes I'd drilled for the this lock, though I had to re-drill for striker plate, which was a little different. The more expensive lock ($49, compared to $17) works flawlessly so far, with no jamming. It also has a much higher quality feel to it.
I understand the temptation to buy this on price compared to the one that costs almost 3 times as much, but it's absolutely false economy. You're likely to return this to the store and buy the more expensive lock anyway. I'd recommend buying the $49 version right away.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KateKintail Right out of the package, the lock would not engage
The lock was the price, color, size, and style I was looking for. The gold keyhole was a strange choice, given the satin nickel finish, however. But my lock was broken when I got it out of the packaging. The directions were difficult to follow, though it did not matter as the cyllinder in the lock would not engage anyway.

The lock is satin nickel, however, the exterior side of the lock is brass. I was able to make it work with the deadbolt hardware that came with my entry lockset (different brand). The end result matches well.
