How do I remove the strriker to install?

I opened the package, removed the screws and now I'm not sure how to remove the striker so that I can install. The instructions to not describe this. Please advise.
Asked by: Shannon
Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. If it is the sliding tab that you are referring to, you'll need to slide it either all the way up to the top or to the bottom which will release it from the center. The steel latch can then be inserted into the handle, and the plastic tab can then be mounted over the steel latch. Make sure the plastic prong beneath the tab inserts into the predrilled hole of the steel latch. Once tab seats over steel latch, slid the tab and latch to the center and proceed with mounting onto screen door with the fasteners provided. For additional questions regarding this item, or any other product manufactured by Prime-Line Products, please call their toll free number at (877) 649-9740, or contact them by email at info@primeline.net

This product is difficult to align center sliding piece and to insert metal latch. The sliding center plastic need to slide in center plastic into small fragile tiny hinges in order to work and usually breaks. I think it is a bad design and the metal hook lock piece do not come with this package. You need to order separately and no ordering information.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Please read before installing If you are ordering this it must be a replacement latch/lock for a screen door you own. If you have never replaced this part before, please read this before you start. The instructions are not that useful. There is a small black rectangular part which functions as the tab to move the metal bar up and down to lock and unlock the screen. The instructions make it sound like the black button on the back of this piece snaps into the hole in the metal bar. We couldn't get it to snap in and ordered this product a second time thinking there was something wrong with the first one we got. In fact this piece does not actually snap into the hole. The instructions tell you to start about a 1/2 inch above or below your final position for good reason. When you line up the black piece in its space and press the button into the hole in the metal bar, you then have to move the black piece up (or down) until it's in its final position. When you do this you will see a small flexible tab at the side of the space. It is this tab which actually holds the black rectangular piece in place. I have enclosed a copy of the diagram from the instructions with a red circle showing where this tab is located. It is not shown in any of the instruction pictures, or even mentioned, but it is at the side of the space where circled in the picture. After you slide the black rectangle into place you will feel that it is being held there by the tab and not about to fall out (which it will do until you get it centered). Then you can go ahead and screw everything together. If you don't do it this way, the black rectangle will just keep falling out of the hole you think it's supposed to snap into. To repeat, the button at the back of the rectangle does not snap firmly into the hole in the metal bar. It just fits in there while you push it up or down (depending on which way your door faces) into place next to the flexible tab, which is what holds it from falling out.
