Can this fit a widow frame that is more than 1/4 inch thick? And, does the screw has a pointed or a flat tip?

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't Fit Well - Hex Key Version Better I wanted to buy this version because it would be easier to remove in case of an emergency than the hex key lock - however... it doesn't fit well in my windows. The lock is not tall enough so the thumbscrew rubs against the window rail and makes it impossible to screw down tight. As such, I guess I'll be going back to the hex key version which has more clearance than this version. September 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't hold up. Bought. Installed. The next day went to slightly open for outside Wi-Fi reception and they slid right up. The gap is way too big for my vinyl windows (I tried two versions of these) and no matter how hard you tighten the screw it WILL NOT keep anyone from opening your window. Can't imagine why they're still making these. If you are rating these higher, please tell me why. PS: This is the first 1-star review I've ever given Anywhere. September 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best backup for window and door safety. Although I have an alarm system, why not make it more difficult for those who break into houses? Most of the windows had these little locks when I moved here. I found that out when I tried to open a window. Ouch. So now all the windows have these little darlings on them, top and bottom. Makes you feel even more secure in your home. They have them for sliding patio doors as well. June 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy but... Although it is sturdy and all, it doesn't seem to be fully secure. It appears to be very slightly tilted when given a hard knock. Again you may have to figure out where to install this because sliding windows may differ from country to country. The good thing is that it comes in a twin pack, so its still relatively a good deal. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Our neighbor's house was broken into so we were looking for an extra deterrent. This product was recommended to us by our city's Police Department. The locks were very easy to install and are discrete. I especially like the white color because they match our windows. October 23, 2012
