The listing says this will fit both 1 3/8 and 1 3/4 inch thick doors. Won't it fit somewhat loose on the 1 3/8 doors?

I need this type of plate for a 1 3/8 exterior solid door, but want to make sure it fits flush on the door; not protruding above the surface.

Would this work on hollow interior doors?

Asked by: saja
Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. If your door measures 1-3/8 inches thick it will fit. Just be sure to check that the backset of the knob hole on the door matches the backset of this guard plate at 2-3/8 inches. The backset is measured from the closing edge of the door to the center of the hole.

For additional questions regarding this item, or any other product manufactured by Prime-Line Products, please call their toll free number at (877) 649-9740, or contact them by email at info@primeline.net

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did its job I had an exterior workshop door that was in rough shape around the doorknob. Rather than a more costly repair, I used this guard plate to reinforce the area around the knob. It worked perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro: Works great - strengthens and helps protect. Con: Not offered in-store. I bought one of these plates for my front apartment door, after having broken the door, due to lost keys. It was the easiest and best way to strengthen the door and help protect the apartment from unwanted entry. Heavy duty and attractive, it works well. Like a reviewer previously stated - it makes no sense why Home Depot doesn't keep the stainless steel version in-store... More people are buying brushed nickel and stainless, today, and by all accounts nickel and stainless are more in-style than the brass versions of door hardware.
