I had an exterior workshop door that was in rough shape around the doorknob. Rather than a more costly repair, I used this guard plate to reinforce the area around the knob. It worked perfectly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by theatrefan Pro: Works great - strengthens and helps protect. Con: Not offered in-store.
I bought one of these plates for my front apartment door, after having broken the door, due to lost keys. It was the easiest and best way to strengthen the door and help protect the apartment from unwanted entry. Heavy duty and attractive, it works well. Like a reviewer previously stated - it makes no sense why Home Depot doesn't keep the stainless steel version in-store... More people are buying brushed nickel and stainless, today, and by all accounts nickel and stainless are more in-style than the brass versions of door hardware.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Calderon This product looks elegant.
This product has a very sharp look and it makes it elegant. It enhances the look of the door and it doesn't take anything away from the elegance of the door.

The Door Guard plate was a good fit for my door, and has added extra strength to a door that has been previously broken open. East to install, and strong -
I only wish they kept these in stock at the store - rather than all brass. I would think there are as many, if not more, sales for door fixtures in nickel, brushed metal, etc., that this one goes well with.
