This is the type of latch that's on the sliding patio door in the 10-year-old house I bought a year ago. One day, I discovered that the latch was not aligned correctly with the catch and therefore, the door was not locking. After some fiddling around with both the latch and the catch, I was able to get it to lock securely. I check it every now and then, however, and tonight, discovered that once again, the latch isn't aligned with the catch in a manner that locks the door. I was able to fix it easily, but now I'm wondering if this is a problem with my latch or a problem with the house sifting. As I've been reading about this latch, I'm guessing that mine is an older version since it locks by pressing the lever down instead of up as it seems is done with newer versions. Just wondering if I need to get a new latch or if this is something that happens even with a new one. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed & Worked as Intended My sliding glass door is ~20 years old. I was under the impression it couldn't be repaired.... Today, I Google repairing sliding glass doors. I found a video on how simple it was to replace the latch. Next, search Home Depot's website and found a match. Less than an hour later, I purchased and installed the latch. Perfect fit! Thanks, Depot!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well does its job I bought two. One for a wooden door and the other for a vinyl door. The wooden door was easy to install and works well. The lock for the vinyl door was difficult to install due to the way the door was manufactured. I had to call the lock mfg. for help and they were wonderful. Both locks are installed and working well.
