2 Questions: How many keys come with this purchase? Can these keys be duplicated at Home Depot?
Asked by: Candy
Pretty sure two, they can't be duplicated but skeleton keys are kind of standardized, I've seen them for sale at lock stores (probably find them on Ebay too), I never use the keys, there are better ways to secure the door.

Our new door has two pre-drilled holes. Will this lock cover both holes?

Asked by: margo
measure the top of the highest hole to the bottom of the lowest hole when you have a measurement then base off of your measurements. Without knowing the width of the two holes your question is unanswerable.

I purchased this for a basement room that the 19?? door lock had died years ago and no longer latched. My home has a coal chute to date it, so the knob lock was ancient. This replaced it with almost no cutting . And what cutting was more for the receiver not the lock its self. 20 minutes if that long and it works perfectly. So happy with it I'm ordering 3 more to replace other ones needed around the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice at a Good Price I'm renovating an old house and tried to fix the spring in an old one of these (100-years old), which never held. These fit perfectly & look great! I bought four of 'em.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Fit; good value I replaced 80 year old locks; fit quite good, had to enlarge only one dimension by about 1/16 inch. Lock looks good, works smoothly

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent The unit isn’t quite the same as the older Mortise lock sets as they are a bit smaller. This requires to installer to either cut into the doors edge so that the loak set further into the door by a quarter to five sixteenths or enlarge the spindle and keyholes. Also they are made cheaper and therefore not the quality of the older lock sets. The set replaced was installed in 1946 when this house was built but broke and had to be forced open removing the knobs and spindle and hitting a 2X4 Placed over the area of the spindle thereby breaking the bolting mechanism and not damaging the door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from And He Loved the Skeleton Key Gave my 14 y.o. grandson joy to find that with a little whittling and an electric drill he could replace the broken doorknob on his bedroom door :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to install & look authentic only complaint - set screw on knob is flimsy & knob falls off easily - also would like to see in other finishes - like aged bronze - the bright brass shows a lot of fingerprints
